The purpose of this position is to develop and oversee recreational programming at the Community Ice Rink. Duties include developing and marketing skating programs, coordinating and participating in hiring professional skating staff and assisting in establishing the Ice Rink schedule. This position will assist with manager-on-duty responsibilities and is required to provide direction to other employees.
Coordinates recreational and/or athletic activities by planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, recruiting and retaining professional service providers, setting up schedules, marketing, securing sponsorships, providing accounting services, including payment of professional service providers, monitoring attendance, answering questions and concerns related to activities, and organizing registrations.
Provides various forms of customer service by providing a safe and welcoming environment, greeting customers, answering questions, responding to concerns, answering and directing incoming calls, processing memberships and registrations, including inputting information into the computer system and distributing equipment to members and guests.
Provides various forms of administrative service by monitoring equipment safety, inspecting facility for safety and cleanliness, supervising patrons, providing first aid as needed, assisting in membership and class sales, processing electronic funds and payments, conducting orientations, scheduling of facility space, maintaining records, providing documentation for budget preparation and monitoring.
Provides direction to other employees by serving as Manager on Duty as assigned, trains and assists with staff training, and contributes to employee performance appraisals as assigned.
Plans and assists with special events by facilitating coordination, providing services as required by the type of event, assisting with event set-up and break-down, and attending and supervising special events.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Bachelor's degree plus one (1) year of relevant work experience including but not limited to Learn-to-Skate, Hockey, Figure Skating, and Special Events.
Certification and Other Requirements
- Knowledge of USA Hockey, USA Figure Skating, and Ice Skating Institute rules/regulations with current certification in one or all organizations is desired.
- The ability to stand and skate on ice is preferred.
- Proven organizational and time management skills are preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as a team player are preferred.
- Valid Texas Class C Drivers License
- First Aid/CPR Certification
Work Schedule
This position is scheduled to work 32-35 hours per week and may include evenings and weekends, depending on the ice schedule.
Overall Physical Strength Demands
Light - Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing significantly.
