As a Program Manager, you will be part of a strong team who loves to serve the community! The Recreation Division offers health, recreational, and educational programs, as well as special events and social services for the Napa community. The Recreation Division is hiring a Program Manager in the area of Senior Latinx outreach and programming. You will assist in planning, implementing and oversight of programs for Spanish speaking older adults. You will lead day-to-day operations, coordinate other part-time staff or volunteers, perform outreach to the Latinx community and assist with the development of programs and events. This position is part-time and will average 15-20 hours per week. You should also have the ability to work evenings, weekends, and some holidays. Bilingual in Spanish is required!

This is a temporary part-time position not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Temporary and part-time employees are at-will and not covered by the Civil Service System. Some benefits for temporary employees include sick leave, temporary employee retirement plan, and 3.5% bilingual pay if applicable.

TYPICAL TASKS

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Coordinate and assist with a variety of Recreation Programs, activities, classes and special events.
  • Lead activities with a diverse audience.
  • Contact and coordinate with vendors or contractors to provide services during Recreation Programs or special events.
  • Distribute and collect equipment, maintain and inspect equipment and facilities to ensure they are safe for public use.
  • Open and prepare facilities for use and secure facilities upon completion of use.
  • Assist in the recruitment and selection of part-time staff and volunteers.
  • Participate in the development of staff and volunteer training.
  • Complete weekly schedules, track expenditures and other important records.
  • Prepare various marketing materials and other program information.
  • Conduct program registration and evaluations.
  • Purchase program supplies.
  • Operate office equipment, including computers and audio visual equipment.
  • Coordinate facility use and scheduling for programs / events with recreation staff and maintenance staff.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:


  • At least two years of experience leading major recreational programs and activities with education and training.
  • Experience leading recreation staff in the development and implementation of successful Recreation Programs and special events.
  • Experience working in facilities (i.e. gym, pool, community center, event venue, etc.) is preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
Ability To:
  • Sit, stand, walk on level and unleveled surfaces, twist, kneel, and squat in performance of daily activities.
  • Complete tasks that require repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination, such as writing and typing announcements and advertisements and providing instruction.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather conditions.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.
Possession Of:
  • Class C California Driver's License.
  • Standard First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates is desired.
