Essential Duties
- Instructs and coaches sports; monitors activities of participants to ensure that park rules and regulations are followed, and that equipment is used in a safe manner.
- Assists in maintaining recreational facilities by performing light custodial care.
- Performs activities involved in a community recreation program.
- Delivers a variety of parks and programs, services, and special events as directed.
- Provides support to staff and contract instructors.
- Enforces City regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Assists with setting up, taking down furniture, materials, and equipment.
- Reports safety concerns, emergencies, or accidents in accordance with established procedures.
- Administers First Aid as needed.
- Responds to inquiries about facility usage, program, activity, and event specifics.
- Operates City vehicles as required.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Current enrollment in High School; must have a work permit and or graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency or its equivalent within 90 days of employment.
- Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license and proof of insurability.
- May be required to drive a city vehicle to transport equipment.
- May work weekends and holidays.
- May require bilingual skills.
- Valid California Class C driver’s license as assigned.
- Valid First Aid/CPR certification issued by an authorized agency.

Physical Demands:
- Frequently required to walk, run, sit and talk or hear.
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision abilities required for close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Frequently works in outside weather conditions.
- Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud when in the field.
