General description of the position:The Director of Recreation is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all Sports, Fitness & Recreation programs and leagues within a Licensed After School Program (2 sites) and our Teen Center. The Recreation Director will be responsible for managing, supervising and coaching Club leagues within the Boys and Girls Club Arena. The Recreation Director is responsible for the management and implementation of Sports & Recreation outreach that support and sustain BGCAC community programs, revenue generation and Citywide recreation collaboration. The Recreation Director is passionate about providing our community with meaningful sports and recreation activities that ensures a healthy lifestyle for Club youth.
essential tasks & responsibilities
v Oversees the agency-wide implementation of all Sports, Fitness & Recreation, Healthy Lifestyles programs and leagues including, but not limited to: Triple Play (Mind, Body, & Soul), Basketball, Football, Golf, Softball, Baseball, Soccer and Tennis, etc
v Develops and implements at least 2seasonal (Fall, Winter, and/or Spring) agency-wide organized sports leagues, including facility management, recruiting and staffing during league events and games.
v Serves as liaison and point of contact to league and city recreation partners and collaborators.
v Designs and implements specific sports workouts, workshops and camps each calendar year, operated when school is not in session (Summer Camp and Holidays).
v Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual Sports, Fitness & Recreation reports for CEO and Leadership Team.
v Responsible for uniform orders, management and sponsor recognition on all equipment and uniforms and within Arena.
v Assures that the Sports, Fitness & Recreation program is aligned with the BGCA Formula for Impact Assessment and BGCAC Strategic Plan.
v Responsible for meeting the ADA, membership and other youth goals for the Sport & Recreation Program.
v Implements new and innovative sports programs and a variety of recreational activities for youth for exploratory experience.
v Promotes recreation programs within community through various channels and update monthly the Sport and Recreation Bulletin Board.
v Serves as BGCAC representative in the community and county, as assigned.
v Proposes and implements two annual Recreation Program Plans for school year and summer camp programs to CEO for approval every Summer for Fall program and every Spring for Summer camp including revenue driving opportunities related to Arena events and community rentals, etc.
v Purchases Sports, Fitness & Recreation materials and supplies as necessary. Inspects, track and equipment inventories to ensure proper usage and safety of all equipment.
v Develops a Sports, Fitness and Recreation schedule for staff that assure compliance with the hours assigned to the personnel.
v Assure that the daily sports operation complies with the safety and all licensing requirements for a license Child Care Afterschool Facility.
v Responsible for completing and maintaining all Sports & Recreation cleaning duties within the Arena as needed.
v Makes recommendations concerning general program structure, budget, development, facility repairs and improvements.
v Supervision Responsibilities includes recruitment and training of personnel, plan, assign and direct projects. Performance evaluations of assigned staff; recognition and disciplinary action, problem solution and management of complaints.

Requirements
physical Demands: Requires standing and/or sitting on a regular basis. Ability to properly use sports and recreation equipment. Ability to use computer equipment, fax, copy machine, calculator etc. Valid Driver’s License required.
Mental Demands: Ability to analyze problems, strategic planning, and Project management. Ability to manage problems
with concrete variables, collect data and valid conclusions. Ability to read reports and apply concepts.
communication: Excellent written and verbal language skills that would aloud clear communication internally and externally. Strong interpersonal skills, ability to effectively intentionally communicate with staff, and customers. Strong customer service skills. Bilingual prefer Spanish/English.
working conditions: Work in a sports/gym environment. It may require transportation between different places.
Education and/or experience: BA in Recreation Management, Sports Marketing, Business Administration. Strong understanding of Business Acumen. 3-5 year’s experience in Recreation development. Experience in non-profit management preferred.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
