The Recovery Coach is dedicated to working with individuals with serious mental illness with the goal of empowering them to become more physically and mentally well, independent, and integrated into their community. A Recovery Coach replaces a case manager and provides participants a pathway toward recovery and positive change.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Link participants to desired/needed services and resources according to their behavioral health treatment plan goals.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of local resources and treatment options.
  • Assist participants in accessing employment, housing, social supports, and various other supports that may be needed.
  • Schedule and attend visits to people in recovery in settings such as the participant’s home as well as their community.
  • Model recovery and resiliency principles, cultural competency, and trauma awareness and incorporate them into daily interactions with participants and colleagues.
  • Assist participants in recovery in completing necessary paperwork (environmental matrix, consents and releases of information, strength and needs assessment, behavioral health treatment plan, referrals, etc.)
  • Ensure all documents are completed to meet state, county, company, and department regulations and guidelines as required.
  • Embrace and implement ICWC values and practices into service delivery.
  • Maintain productivity requirements as required by the program.
  • Complete Progress Notes and daily service logs within 24 hours of services rendered within the EHR.
  • Track and maintain compliance of all required paperwork and electronic documents.
  • Coordinate case conferences with Therapists, Psychiatrists, Family Members, PCP, and others as required to ensure person’s supports in recovery are maintained and natural supports are put into place.
  • Participate in clinical consultations with the Recovery Coaching supervisor, the team, the clinical liaison, and payors.
  • Assist with and communicate any crisis needs, as well as any other clinical information to supervisor as needed to support proper clinical care.

Required Experience:
  • 1-2 years experience in the behavioral health field.
  • Experience in case management is preferable.

Required Education: 
  • A. Bachelor's degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, anthropology, other related social sciences, criminal justice, theology, nursing, counseling, or education; or,
    B. Registered nurse; or
    C. A high school diploma and 12 semester credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or other social science and two years experience in direct contact with mental health consumers; or
    D. A high school diploma and five years of mental health direct care experience in public or private human services with employment as a case management staff person prior to April 1, 1989.

Required Qualifications:
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Strong knowledge of recovery and resiliency principles.
