Job Summary: Responsible for scheduling appointments, checking in/out each patient, answering telephone, review and follow up with patient calls. Collect payment for scheduled patients and supplement sales. Reviews patient charts to verify necessary information and signatures have been obtained. Check on insurance benefits. Enters new patient information into computer. Ensures the patient feels welcome to the practice.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two-years minimum experience in medical practice.
- Previous receptionist experience preferred
- Experience with QuickBooks software preferred
- Experience with medical management software preferred
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills: learn business software, scanning, photocopying, faxing, etc.
- Organizational skills & attention to details.
- Highly motivated and organized.
- Ability to manage & prioritize multiple tasks
- Reliable attendance and attention during business hours
- Treats patients and co-workers with respect.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for patient check-in/check-out, greeting each patient in a pleasant and professional manner. Answer phone and make appointments managing the schedule.
- Entering new patient data into the scheduling system/medical record & sending electronic paperwork. Scanning documents to upload into medical record.
- Evaluates chart data to verify all information has been received and completed, and signatures obtained. Ensure that new patient paperwork has been completed 1-2 days before appointment.
- Photocopies patient insurance cards and checks insurance benefit.
- Assist patients with supplement sales and collect payment at end of office visits.
- Places telephone calls to no-show appointments; reschedules as needed.
- Inspects reception room for neatness. Light cleaning of reception area such as desk, phone, computer and entry way.
- Receiving deliveries/sorting mail/preparing packages for shipment.
- Performs other duties as required.
