Position Summary:
· Courteously greets patients and visitors.
· Performs all tasks necessary for patient registration in an accurate and timely manner.
· Verifies insurance eligibilities
· Utilizes processes and activities to assist in the management of the environment of care.
· Enters new patient demographics and updates existing patient information as needed.
· Answers telephone in a professional manner; receives and relays messages appropriately and effectively.
· Schedules patient appointments according to policy.
· Collects patient co-pays.
· Utilizes processes and activities to assist in the management of the environment of care.
· Performs all other duties and tasks as delegated and/or assigned.
Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience Requirements:
Experience in health related field, medical/clinical office preferred.
Job Knowledge:
Good verbal communication and organizational skills required. Basic knowledge of medical recordkeeping and infection control preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Excellent filing skills required. Basic knowledge of accreditation programs and other government agency regulations, laws and requirements preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, stooping, and stretching.
· Requires moderate periods of walking and standing.
· Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. occasionally.
· Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment.
· Requires normal range of hearing and sight to receive, record, prepare, and communicate patient information.
· Uses arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
· Must be able to communicate orally and in writing in English.
Work Environment:
Works in heated and air-conditioned area. Exposure Determination: Category II-may have some potential for occupational exposure to infectious materials and contagious conditions. May be exposed to patient body fluids, potential for exposure to hazardous disinfecting chemicals. Must follow universal precautions. Must follow CDC hand-washing guidelines and practice good personal hygiene.'
