Job Description
Purpose of Position:
The Quality Assurance Raw material is responsible for understanding the company’s quality policy, principles of food safety and good manufacturing practices. This position is responsible for evaluating the quality of all raw materials received by the company. This position is responsible for assuring that all raw material are received within quality company standards.
Accountabilities:
- Follow food safety and quality guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices and Hygiene standards.
- Perform raw material quality inventory when required and report any quality issues
- Perform daily work in process quality material evaluation.
- Support all regular QA Technician responsibilities when necessary, which are the following:
- Conduct pre-operational inspections, ATP and environmental swabs.
- Ensure placement of overage product (in process) on QA hold.
- Calibrate QA equipment (hand held and thermometers) and Production scales.
- Check metal detectors, wash water for free chlorine, pH and temperature, monitor water change over and check free chlorine on all wash waters, foot bath and hand dips.
- Inspect one bag/tray of each product that is ran throughout the day for daily sample collection and cases of finished product following retention sample collection schedule.
- Check date codes, seals, weights, leak checks, temperatures, perforations and COO on products that are being produced.
- Ensure Production/Maintenance, shipping and receiving is following all GMPs, SOP, specs, etc.
- Record any deviation on ifoods, notify appropriate personnel and make sure that the proper follow-up is conducted.
- Plane non-conforming product on hold with physical stop signs, in ifoods and notify all pertinent personnel by following Product Hold Contact List.
- Conduct finished product evaluations and record data on appropriated forms and spreadsheets.
- Ensure that all areas are covered when Maintenance does work during processing and
- upon completion areas are washed and sanitized after any Maintenance work.
- Collect raw, in-process, finished product and wash water samples per micro sampling schedule.
- Follow QA cleaning schedule.
- Help to maintain the shelf life process.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
- In the absence of other QA Supports this position will assume additional duties and responsibilities including raw product evaluations.
Minimum Skills Required:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completed at least one college level math, science and English class
- Strong verbal and written skills
- Computer literate
- Great communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Bilingual in Spanish (plus)
