Real Time Crime Center Operator
The City of Chandler Police Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Real Time Crime Center Operator. This is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position with benefits. The position is scheduled to work various schedules to include days, swings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

The City of Chandler Police Department, consisting of 337 sworn officers and 177 civilians, serves a growing population of close to 270,000 residents. The organization is divided into two divisions and one bureau. The Patrol Division consisting of three precincts to meet the needs of the community, the Operational Support Bureau, and the Professional Services Division. Who we are looking for
Our ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. The successful Real Time Crime Center Operator candidate will be able to perform the following tasks:

  • Communicate on the telephone and over a two-way radio
  • Must be able to review a wide variety of written and electronic materials and draw accurate conclusions
  • Must be able to operate a computer and demonstrate speed while concurrently performing other tasks
  • Must be able to recognize and distinguish suspicious or criminal behavior
Minimum qualifications
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or GED; and
  • At least 3 years of experience in law enforcement agency; and or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Must obtain and maintain Arizona DPS Terminal Operator Certification Level A within six (6) months of hire or promotion.
Desired qualifications
  • Prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a Real Time Crime Center Operator is preferred.
Essential Functions
  • Applies criminal justice and legal protocols, follows all related agency policies and exercises technical expertise in researching and relaying actionable intelligence on calls for service using Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) technology including preparing police reports and storing media for use in court proceedings.
  • Monitors and operates an integrated computer system that combines various technologies including live camera feeds, computer aided dispatch, officer locations, and other types of sensors (i.e., real-time license plate reader) for actionable enforcement.
  • Maintains awareness of police units and calls for service to track evolving situations, identify possible suspects and suspect vehicles, locate fleeing suspects, and relay information when necessary.
  • Assists officers and investigators with criminal research; accesses servers and stored media to locate specific video footage; may be required to testify in court.
  • Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
  • Serves as a liaison with other RTCCs; fields internal and external inquiries on a variety of informational or technical issues; participates in ongoing training to keep abreast of work methods, procedures, technology and related laws.
Supervision
Work is performed under the supervision of a Police Sergeant. This position does not supervise others.

This is a regular full-time non-exempt position, subject to a 1-year probationary period. A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available.
The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results. All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.
