EXAMPES OF DUTIES The minimum performance expectations include, but are not limited to, the following functions/tasks:Provides literacy instruction and support to secondary students in collaboration with classroom teachers and reading specialistTeaches fundamental reading skills to small groups of studentsDevelops lesson plans and instructional materials that meet the needs of the assigned group utilizing district provided resourcesParticipates in monthly professional development and training focusing on literacy instruction and best practicesCollaborates with the reading specialist in planning for the instructional needs of the studentsMonitors and documents academic progress of the assigned studentsMaintain appropriate recordsCommunicates with classroom teacher and reading specialist to discuss student progress and provide feedbackFollow an instructional schedule developed by school personnel working 5 hours a dayWork involves exposure to normal everyday hazards encountered in a schoolWork is performed in a classroom and involves no unusual demandsKNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITYIn-depth knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teachingAbility to interact effectively with students, staff, administrators, parents, and community.
