The R&D Technician performs combustion performance testing on commercial and industrial burner products that are manufactured on-site. He or she is required to document testing irregularities/performance issues with products.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and understand wiring diagram, schematics, and blueprints.
- Assemble and mount burners to boilers for testing.
- Pipe oil lines, gas trains, feed water systems and steam headers to boilers.
- Perform mounting and reading of test instruments, recording readings and test data with knowledge of normal parameters.
- Maintain well organized written reports and project records in a manner that the results can be analyzed and used by others.
- Maintain a neat, clean, and functional work area at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all safety rules and standards.
- Assist other Fire Test Lab technicians with any lab, service and R & D functions as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications/Requirements
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years electrical panel wiring, wiring diagram/blueprint and/or schematic experience.
- HVAC or related experience is a plus.
- Computer literacy; competency in use of all programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of burners/boilers.
- Individuals should possess excellent communication skills and have a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork. Must be responsive to all customer issues. Must be willing and able to travel.
- Must be able to work safely and follow safety precautions in extreme environments (temperature, humidity, noise, confined spaces, etc.) around dangerous industrial equipment.
