Job Title: Part Time R&D Production I
Job Location: Hershey, PA Technical Center
Part Time ($15/hr.)
Summary:
The main function of this role is to provide hands-on support with lab and pilot plant tasks in support of innovation projects and other technical initiatives. This role includes measuring and batching ingredients, packaging samples, working in a lab environment, working in a pilot manufacturing environment, and cleaning and organizing equipment and spaces utilized for experimentation and development. Individuals in this role must be able to work basic lab equipment and following all human/food safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). This role will support technical leads across all of R&D and require good listening skills and the ability to follow instructions. As a Continuous Part Time (CPT) employee, hours worked will depend on needs of the organization.
Summary of major duties:
Project support:
Support standard experimental work in the laboratory and pilot plant to prepare and package products.
Assist with pilot plant scale up testing by readying ingredients, packaging materials, processing equipment, and assisting with setup and post-test cleanup.
Provide support to produce samples for sale and other large production runs that occur in the Technical Center.
Lab maintenance:
Responsible for organization, cleanliness, and sanitation of team laboratory workspaces.
Maintain inventory of ingredients and supplies.
Maintain regulatory compliance through entry of ingredient/packaging information in the lot tracking database.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Education: High School diploma or GED. Post high school training or technical/professional certification preferred.
Experience: Laboratory or commercial kitchen experience preferred. Basic computer skills including keyboarding, using web browsers, and email communication preferred.
