Position Summary/Objective:
The R&D Engineer for this position will be the lead resource for UTEX’s pressure pumping flowloop facility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Maintain all equipment to working condition including maintenance and implementing a Preventative Maintenance program
- Build and assist with the design and building of new and ongoing facility improvements
- Responsible for all aspects of Safety and Environmental requirements
- Collaborate with R&D Supervisor, as a dotted line manager to them
- Collaborate with Eng Manager, as a dotted line manager to them
- Collaborate with R&D Engineers on new designs and the planning for testing of them
- Travel to customer field/test locations in support of new product launches as required
- May travel to customer, supplier, and technology partner sites to accommodate discussions related to progress and to pick-up and move parts between sites, in support of testing
- Learn, grow, and develop into a product R&D Engineer; primarily on UTEX Well Service Packing offering, but also other and all products as required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience:
- 4-year engineering degree required; mechanical, chemical, industrial, automation and controls or material science preferred
- Extensive experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment and machinery required
- On the job experience, including heavy equipment required
- Comprehensive multiple term Co-op or Internship experience or 1-3 years working experience preferred

- Strong ability to understand or willingness to learn control systems and programming proficiency
- Strong communication skills both verbal and written
- Organized, ability to manage progress from a project management standpoint
- Ability to identify and mitigate risks and solve problems by own decision making, and properly amplifies and elevates the items of most importance, as needed, while resolving a majority of the smaller ones on own
Work Environment
This job operates in a combined office and shop environment, but primarily indoor/outdoor shop environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Provided Personal Protective Equipment, as well as steel-toed boots or shoes, must be worn at all times in shop environments. The R&D engineer should spend ~2/3 of their time at the facility and in the plant and the balance of time in their office and/or travelling to support program success.

This position requires some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, significant fine finger dexterity, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel
This position may require some travel varying from 10-25% and most often to other UTEX, customer, or supplier locations.
