Job Summary: The Ranch Hand is responsible for assisting Barn Supervisor in all barn duties. This position will conduct AM and PM chores, ensure the wellbeing of all livestock on the property, and maintain the facility grounds.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide exemplary care for the animals in the barn, including feeding and watering
- Regular cleaning of horse stalls and barn common spaces
- Enforce schedules set in place by Ranch Manager and Barn Supervisor for veterinary care, vaccinations, and deworming
- Ensure that barn equipment, tools, and machinery are properly maintained and in good working condition
- Coordinate with the Barn Supervisor for repairs and routine maintenance tasks as needed
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a secure environment for both animals and staff
- Develop regular communication with boarding clients and ensure great customer service
- Monitor the health of all livestock on property
- Administering medications, proper dosage and tracking when needed
- Apply wraps and bandages to boarded horses as needed
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education, Skill & Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in animal science or related fields are a plus
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in an agricultural or livestock setting
- Extensive knowledge of animal care, health, and welfare practices
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and orderly environment.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and protocols
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and manual labor
Work Environment:
- Majority of time spent in a ranch or farm setting with uneven ground, heavy equipment/machinery operation, and livestock
- Night, weekend and holiday work will be required on occasion
