Minimum Education: Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: Registration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current CPR Certification.
Work Experience: 6 months to 1 year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols, CR/Film screen exposure techniques and protocols, Computerized Tomography, Mammography, and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical principles and procedures. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology. Ability to properly administer pharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures. Knowledge of sharps usage practices and techniques. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to integrate the analysis of data to discover facts or develop knowledge, concepts or interpretations. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detailed oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Position patient and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by physician. Explain procedures to allow for understanding, cooperation and to reduce anxiety of patient. Administer appropriate pharmaceuticals pursuant to procedure, place IV's and administer enemas as required. Practice radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding skills, and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to the patient, staff and others as necessary. Move radiographic equipment into specified position and adjust equipment controls to set graphic exposure factors, such as time and distance, based on knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols. Obtain acceptable radiographic images using appropriate Computerized Radiology and/or CR/DR techniques and protocols. Acquire and disseminate patient information data for exam order using Hospital EMR System. Write information in patient charts as required or necessary. Perform quality control checks to ensure proper operating status. Reporting malfunctions pursuant to established protocols. Maintains examination rooms and stock necessary medical and radiologic supplies pursuant to established protocols.
