Radio Promotions/Events Intern

The KUVO Radio Promotions/Events Internship provides experiential learning experiences to students and recent graduates who are interested in learning about the radio and music industry. This opportunity is geared toward those students and recent graduates who articulate a strong desire enter the public or commercial radio industries, new media ventures or the music industry. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community outreach, event planning, and audience engagement strategies.

This internship position will start with a small cohort of fellow interns on June 3, 2024. Selected candidates may expect to work anywhere from 10-12 weeks, depending on their class schedule. This internship opportunity offers 15-20 hours of work per week.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community outreach, event planning, and audience engagement strategies.
  • Collaborate with programming staff to create content that reflects the diverse interests and voices of our community
  • Support and promote community events, fundraisers, and public appearances for the radio station
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating focus groups, surveys, and listener feedback sessions to gather input on programming and community needs
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on community engagement metrics and outcomes from events
  • Attend station events and promotions
  • Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program
  • Other tasks as assigned and/or required

Minimum Qualifications of Position


  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, a program at an accredited college, university, or technical school
  • A mix of demonstrated skills, abilities and knowledge will be considered in place of education requirements
  • Passion for music and a strong interest in radio broadcasting
  • Proficiency in digital media and content management platforms is a plus
  • Familiarity with music genres, artists, and industry trends
  • Enthusiasm for community engagement
  • Strong passion for community building, social justice, and the power of grassroots media

  • Must be able to work both independently and as a collaborative and productive team member
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work professionally and productively with persons at all levels
  • Must possess exceptional time management, decision making and organizational skills
  • Must be detail-oriented with an ability to manage several projects simultaneously
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and work within established budgets
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and an acceptable MVR; must be insurable for driving station vehicles

Work Environment

This position works primarily in office, studio, editing, and/or field environments. This position must be able to work a flexible schedule with occasionally long hours including some evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout the state and beyond, on occasion.
