Position: Quarry Supervisor
Reports to: Quarry Manager

Shift: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm -10:30pm

What you'll be contributing:

 

  • Establishes, communicates, and assigns job responsibilities, goals, and performance standards for employees within supervisory responsibility. Evaluates job performance  
  • Supervises and monitors hauling operations to prepare particular types of rock for crushing. 
  • Ensures that all quarry activities are properly conducted and comply with all safety standards and regulations
  • Conducts and/or participates in quarry department safety meetings and safety inspections of work areas
  • Monitors production needs to ensure enough rock is available and ready for use in manufacturing            
  • Maintains specified records of quarry and mining activities
  • Prepares reports and other specified paperwork as requested by management
  • Inspects work sites to make sure proper clean-up procedures have been executed
  • Cooperates with other department managers in coordinating production operations with the quarry operations to supply the needed amount of raw materials from the quarry
  • Assists as needed in planning long-term quarry development goals including mining exploration
  • Assists with the preparation of annual budgets and specifications on purchased equipment
  •  Coordinates purchased material with plant needs
  • Maintains awareness of current industry trends and practices by reading trade and industry magazines

 

To succeed in this position, you will need:

 

  • Proficient in English written, verbal communication, and listening skills
  • Ability to make decisions and to exercise sound judgment in arriving at a conclusion
  • Ability to make decisions and solve problems with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to perform, organize, and prioritize work independently
  • Ability to lead/manage others
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects in parallel to the conclusion
  • Knowledge of quarry operations, including using quarry equipment 
  • Knowledge of MSHA safety regulations as well as state and federal mining laws
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments regularly
  • Ability to work under general supervision with specified policies, practices, and objectives
  • Ability to refer questionable items to supervisor for clarification

 

What to expect in a cement environment:

 

Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Mild exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
