Quantity Surveyor

Responsible for developing construction material takeoffs for a custom curtainwall company, under the direct supervision of the Technical Project Manager and QS Manager. The successful candidate will be looking for an opportunity to advance in the pre-construction, estimating, engineering and/or procurement functions in a sophisticated manufacturing and construction environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Review architectural drawings and design submittal project plans, specifications and related documents to gain a thorough understanding of the project’s scope of work.

• Perform detailed material quantity takeoffs to produce an accurate estimate of the curtain wall system.

• Prepare comprehensive materials reports for use by project teams and management.

• Track and document changes to plans and the general scope of work.

• Act as a liaison between engineering and other departments

• Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure a design and execution of the curtain wall system are correct.

Key Roles and Skill Sets:

• Strong mathematical skills.

• Proficiency in general business software, including Microsoft Office Suite, with expertise in Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD & Bluebeam

• Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and related documents.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Technical background preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel as required.

• Ability to sit, work, collaborate on a computer as needed for project work.

• Ability to stand for periods of time as needed for project work.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Associates in Construction Management, Estimation, or related degree required, Bachelor preferred.

• 5+ years relevant experience in pre-construction or estimating in a construction field required.
