Job description

Job Title: Quality Coordinator
Department: Quality
Reports to: Quality Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly, Monday through Friday
Authorization Date: TBD

POSITION PURPOSE:
  • Be a quality leader for the Rome facility. Help improve our Quality Culture and adherence to processes. Be a “Voice of the Customer”.
  • Oversees the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF system.
  • Coordinates Quality Department activities to maintain high-quality levels within the organization.
  • Assist Quality Manager in day-to-day tasks to ensure seamless transitions across all production shifts.
  • Parter with operations, maintenance, engineering, and supplier control teams to focus on projects and initiatives that will improve organizational quality.
  • This is a local position, but may include limited travel to support sister plants, customers, or suppliers when needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • SQF Practitioner Duties and Responsibilities
    • Tasks include, but are not limited to procedure audits, process audits, HACCP plan, testing, verifications, and validations. Primary SQF compliance and oversite responsibility will be held by the Quality Manager.
    • Maintaining SQF compliance documentation.
    • Calibration and upkeep of gauges
    • Directing and tracking cleaning compliance for PPC and contracted employees
  • Quality Department Duties and Responsibilities
    • Participate and lead projects to improve Quality Systems
    • Leading the Customer Return process. This includes updating the Complaint Log, returning rolls into Radius, following returns through rework, and adjusting remaining inventory. Credit decisions will be made by Quality Manager.
    • Working with Quality Technicians across shifts to maintain a seamless transition on projects and investigations.
    • Training operators on new and existing quality procedures and systems.
    • Responsible for Quality Hold and DMR area, including ensuring timely disposition.
    • Maintain inventory accuracy of quarantined items and quarantine location.
    • Assisting with internal and external quality investigations.
    • Communication of customer complaints using the Quality Alert system.
    • Interfacing with internal and external customers to provide quality related updates
    • Conducting internal audits of processes
    • Leading the Trial Review system to ensure that trials, transferred jobs, and other high risk or critical jobs are ran successfully.
    • Attend Tier2 meetings a minimum of three times weekly to assist in quality related issues and ensure quality needs are communicated.
    • Interfacing with PPC wide groups to obtain quality compliance documentation, maintaining these records and providing to customers via email or web platforms as required.
    • Generate POs for lab supplies and services.
    • Provide various (daily, weekly, monthly) status reports of progress to PPC management.
    • Assisting Quality Technicians in their duties as necessary
      • Other Duties
        • Spend a minimum of two hours per week on each night shift to ensure communication and training across all shifts.
        • Cover Quality Technician vacations and absences as requested by PPC management.
        • Assist Technical Services Manager in facility related investigations.
        • Assist PPC management team as requested.
        • Expectation that computer work is approximately 25% of position
      KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
      • Capable of coordinating multiple priorities, projects, and resources simultaneously in a fast-paced lean manufacturing environment.
      • Proficiency in quality management systems.
      • Able to create detailed reports, presentations and documents using the MS Office product lines.
      QUALIFICATIONS / PRIOR EXPERIENCE:
      • 5+ years of experience in quality related role in an industrial setting.
      • Documented training in Global Food Safety Initiative, preferably SQF
      • Proven track record of interfacing with auditors, regulatory agencies, and customers.
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
      • ASQ Certification desired but not required
      • Experience with Radius ERP system desired but not required.
