What You Will Do
The Quality Engineering Technician will report to the Quality Manager. This role will work under the daily supervision of Quality Engineers, Process Engineers, and Design Engineers. The primary role of the Quality Engineering Technician is to support, assist, and work alongside the QE, ME, and Inspection personnel to incorporate and ensure all changes to documentation are completed and integrated into the Document Control and ERP systems, in addition to the following:
- Compile, review, prepare, and submit final Data Pack documentation to Quality Engineer’s and customers, via customer portals.
- Coordinate and support customer source inspection activities.
- Prepare, review, and accept documentation such as mill certs, calibration certs, tensile, grain analysis testing reports, TUS, and SAT reports, supplier FAI reports, etc. with Quality Engineering oversight.
- Scan and upload final data pack documentation to servers for electronic retention.
- Perform tasks assigned by, and in support of Quality Engineers who work remotely.
- Update manufacturing planning/shop router in Epicor ERP system.
- Process ECO’s in IMSXpress ECO module to support quality and engineering needs.
- Make updates to 2D and 3D engineering drawings using appropriate software, and process updates via IMSXpress ECO module.
- Assist Quality Engineer’s in the setup of ProLink SPC software.
- Assist/perform in-process, and final inspections using calibrated hand tools, laser measuring equipment (FARO Focus), to generate models of scanned domes for engineering evaluation, when required.
- Primary responsibility for calibration system, and system maintenance in IMSXpress Calibration module.
- Works closely with Calibration Coordinator, and if necessary, acts in the capacity as the Calibration Coordinator to locate and process calibrated tools into and out of the facility, to ensure all calibrations are performed in a timely manner.
- Prepares requisitions to purchase new tools and equipment and authorize repairs to tools and equipment to support calibration system and ensure that ample quantity of calibrated tools is always in-house and ready for use.
- Complete special projects assigned by the Quality Manager, or Quality Engineers.
This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Some work is able to be performed remotely, on a case-by-case basis.
What You Will Bring
- 2 yr. Associates degree preferably in Engineering Technologies.
- 3+ years of work experience in a manufacturing work environment.
What We Value
- Experience with Metals and Metals Processing is a plus.
- 2D Drafting, CAD 3D modeling experience (Solidworks, ProE, Creo, Catia) desired.
- Strong ability in the use of Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook.
- Independently motivated and a self-starter.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge or experience working with Epicor ERP system.
- Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Experience conducting and supporting internal and external audits is helpful.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, and technical documentation.
- Prior experience as an Inspector is helpful, but not required.
