Job Summary: Quality Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that products or services meet established quality standards and comply with regulatory requirements. This role involves overseeing and managing the quality control processes within the organization. The key responsibilities include developing and implementing quality control procedures, leading a team of inspectors and/or technicians, conducting regular audits, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement. The Quality Supervisor collaborates with other departments, addresses customer complaints, and ensures compliance within industry standards. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to analyze and interpret data, and a commitment to continuous improvement in quality management processes
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Supervise, develop, mentor, and coach a team of quality technicians.
- Hire employees, administer performance reviews and corrective action; approve timecards and vacation.
- Supports development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the Quality System.
- Responsible for the accuracy and adequacy of quality assurance work instructions.
- Participates in root cause & corrective action activities with production and support teams to address audit findings and customer complaints.
- Participates in trend reviews of quality data with quality and production staff.
- Supervises or assists in the inspection or testing of raw materials and products to determine compliance with specifications.
- Functions as a quality expert in the training and support of personnel throughout the facility.
- Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective quality processes, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for quality control functions including incoming and in process inspection, sampling, vendor and final testing and inspection of finished products, to meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Plan and lay out work, devise or adapt inspection equipment as necessary and assist with difficult problems involving inspection, setups, layouts, or procedures.
- Suggest changes in inspection procedures, quality control standards, equipment, and gauges to facilitate work and maintain quality.
- Prepare inspection reports and records.
- Approximately 25% travel to jobsites to review quality issues.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
- Minimum of five years of work-related quality assurance experience in a manufacturing facility
- Experience in the garage door industry or building materials industry desired.
- Two years of experience supervising or leading teams
Essential Mental/Physical Functions:
Knowledge: Knowledge of company products or related building industry experience, understanding of applicable quality standards.
Skill: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, excellent computer skills, organizational skills; strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; proficient using a computer and Microsoft Office Suite
Ability: To work collaboratively or individually, problem solve and troubleshoot, multi-task and handle multiple projects at one time without sacrificing quality of work; to be flexible, work effectively with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels; exercise good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions; use a caliper and color spectrometer
Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
This position involves standing, walking, and lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. It requires grasping and fine finger manipulation on both hands. The position requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The plant is not climate controlled. Work is done in an area where moving mechanical machinery, parts or vibration are located.
Specific vision requirements:
This position requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
