A Brief Overview
The Radiology Quality Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring improvement efforts in the Department of Radiology under the direction of the Radiology Quality Manager. This individual is an integral member of the Radiology Quality Improvement (QI) Team which reports to the Radiology Administrative Director in collaboration with the Medical Director of Quality and is responsible for leading and managing multiple small to medium scale performance improvement initiatives within the Radiology Department. The primary functions of this role include establishing timelines for projects, coordinating action plans, and ensuring that individual and team goals are met. As a member of the Radiology QI team, this individual is also expected to assume various responsibilities as needed to further the quality goals of the department, including project prioritization, patient safety initiatives, education, reporting, management of policies and procedures, compliance, quality auditing, data management, and other responsibilities as needs arise. The role draws upon clinical expertise as well as strong project management and leadership skills to effect improvement in the department.

What you will do

  • Responsible for development, coordination, documentation and implementation of the department's QI Program and initiatives for all locations in collaboration with and under the direction of the Radiology Administrative Director, Medical Director of Quality, and Quality Manager.
  • Establishes timelines for projects and initiatives, ensuring that milestones and deadlines are transparent to all team members. Tracks and regularly reports individual and team progress compared to milestones.
  • Coordinates project efforts, ensuring that necessary resources are in place, contacts are made, and problems are identified and corrected early.
  • Ensures that meetings are planned and conducted in a way that ensures they are focused, efficient, and effective at facilitating relevant QI goals.
  • Research practice at other institutions, determine how our performance compares, and share practices elsewhere that we can learn from.
  • Assumes responsibilities as needed to fulfill the objectives of the QI team, in collaboration with and under the direction of the Radiology Administrative Director, Medical Director of Quality. and the Radiology Quality Manager. These may include the following:
    o Develop and manage the departmental patient and employee safety program.
    o Develop and manage departmental policies and procedures.
    o Oversee initiatives to improve service to internal and external customers.
    o Educate other members of the QI team and other members of the department.
    o Ensure that orientation and ongoing training and coaching are appropriate.
    o Collect, analyze, track, and report quality data, including conducting performance audits and developing dashboard displays.
    o Oversee regulatory compliance, including those related to radiation.
    o Identify value streams to reduce waste. Lead teams to develop standard work.
    o Oversee initiatives to ensure maintenance of image quality.
    o Maintains a current and working knowledge of image acquisition process and workflows for all modalities.
    o Maintains a current and working knowledge of the report generation cycle, billing flow and revenue cycle process in the department.
    o Maintains frequent communication with the Radiology Administrative Director, Medical Director of Quality and other members of the Quality Improvement team, including formal meetings and less formal communications.
    o Serves as primary liaison and point of contact between the Department of Radiology and the Value Improvement Group and the Quality Department.
  • o Uses the "Plan-Do-Study-Act" methodology of iteratively testing and scaling workflow changes prior to implementation.
    o Continuously improves personal fund of knowledge regarding quality improvement and radiology by reading the literature, attending conferences and forums, and actively exchanging ideas with colleagues within and outside the institution.
    o Partners with Manager in the development and execution of department-based quality initiatives, continuous quality improvement, and compliance. Leads and facilitates small to medium scale radiology department quality improvement initiatives.
    o Design and prepare presentation reports that provide summarized data trends and progress toward achieving project goals
  • o Drives sustained, measurable improvements in the patient and employee experience in the Department of Radiology

  • o Facilitate disciplined visioning, project scoping, implementation and decision-making methods for projects internal to the department
  • o Identify opportunities for process improvement and recognize and use synergies from other projects to design creative solutions for technological and non-technological problems

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a work-related field/discipline from an accredited college or university.

Experience Qualifications
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience. Radiology experience preferred, but not required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to quickly learn new tools and theories in change management, and use information technology to drive process changes
  • Ability to manage key service performance metrics and to develop and execute plans for continuous service improvement
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all organizational levels and in situations requiring instructing, persuading, negotiating, conflict resolution, consulting and advising as well as to prepare clear, comprehensive written and oral reports and materials
  • Top-notch writing and presentation skills, problem solving, attention to detail and accuracy, operations, project management, interviewing, consulting, and team-facilitation expertise is assumed.
  • Strong quantitative skills. Demonstrated ability and success in independently planning and managing multiple projects and reevaluating priorities in a self-directed manner and meeting challenging deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively both as a team player and leader
  • Ability to mediate and resolve complex issues independently
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $52.64 - $69.74 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
