Lyons Magnus is seeking a Quality Manager for its Beloit, WI Facility
Job Summary
The position requires a deep understanding of product development, quality, and technology expertise. These techniques include but are not limited to, quality and safety assurance of all products, plant, and equipment capabilities, the accuracy of formulations and GMPs, and HACCP guidelines and technical leadership practices in developing Lyons technical lab services department.
Description of Responsibilities:

- Provide technical leadership and expertise within the company and our customer base.
- Develop key objectives for all direct reports, stressing that salary administration will be met upon meeting/exceeding stated objectives. All objectives should reflect the strict division of labor/responsibility within the QA function, state explicitly all given responsibilities, and promote direct accountability.
- Direct and provide appropriate training for all direct reports.
- Assist the Director of Quality by providing quantitative and justifiable criteria for possible expansion of the QA staff.
- Ensure that all direct reports function effectively within their given job description.
- Assist the Director of Quality with employee reviews, salary determination, and job description development/revisions.
- Develop/maintain responsibility for finished goods specifications for all products manufactured by Lyons.
- Develop/implement required testing protocols and methods for existing and all new products/packages.
- Implement program and train resources to better support PC function (e.g., fats, proteins, weights, viscosity, etc.), eliminating the need for PC technicians to conduct in-process analyses.
- Common objective with Director of Quality and F.S. Manager: Develop and implement comprehensive, discrete HOLD procedures for raw materials and finished goods. The procedures should be explicit regarding the required information flow between all functional areas.
- Direct and maintain responsibility for all Red Zone data acquisition and fill maintenance, focusing on completeness and ease of retrieval.
- Develop and direct all finished goods sampling (protocol development).
- Maintain on-hold records and coordinate disposition with Director of Quality, F.S. Manager, Production and Accounting.
- Inspect and evaluate all day-after products to include approval/rejection by the Approval Committee.
- Conduct/monitor all storage stability evaluations.
- Ensure that all direct reports are effectively making batch adjustments of batch samples when appropriate.
- Maintain responsibility for the investigation/disposition of all product complaints.
- Ensure proper QA staffing requirements for all production hours, including weekend production, when needed. Ensure that all finished goods are tested per the customers or regulatory testing requirements, and when required, communicate all finished goods testing results to the customer.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience in a food manufacturing facility while in a quality position is required.
- Familiar and experienced with GFSI certification requirements and audits, SQF practitioner a plus.
- Experience in an aseptic beverage facility is highly desirable.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- A proven track record of exceptional organizational, planning, and overall time management skills, in addition to outstanding verbal and written communication,
Education and/or Experience:
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of successful experience in the food manufacturing industry
- Additional related experience will be accepted instead of a formal degree.
- A proven track record of exceptional organizational, planning, and overall time management skills, in addition to outstanding verbal and written communication
