Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for customer interactions required to resolve quality issues and new program FAI/PPAP roll-outs. Manages quality personnel to effectively support day-to-day operations. Oversees ISO/QMS systems, third party audits and registrations.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Ensure that product approval processes and procedures are being followed by quality personnel.
• Schedules FAI / PPAP as required.
• Coordinates the creation and retention of quality documents and forms/records including corrective and prevention logs.
• Reviews instructions, prints and process specifications to determine product requirements and conformance to ISO standards.
• Oversees internal audits including qualifying and scheduling of internal auditors.
• Coordinates collection and preparation of quality reports for management including assigned KPI's.
• Analyzes inspection and non-conformance data to provide summary or trend reports, as required.
• Recommends measures to improve production/inspection methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
• Responsible for overseeing effective gauge calibration system
• Provides Sales, Engineering and Production personnel with support regarding quality issues.
• Supports Purchasing on qualifying suppliers for outside services or products
• Coordinates and manages MRB meetings concerning root cause and corrective action.
• Processes RMAs using internal RMA processes and customer interactions, including corrective actions.
• Manages third party assessment audits from firms such as UL and ETL/Intertek.
• Implements changes to quality department to promote continuous improvement reduce costs and improve performance.
• Ensures safety is implemented into daily work activities of staff.
• Trains new staff on job responsibilities, Procedures and Work Instructions.
• Reviews staff's work performance by completing performance appraisals.
• Resolves or facilitates staff work problems or concerns.
• Recommends personnel actions, such as, training, promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures.
May be required to follow other job-related instructions and duties, as requested, subject to all applicable state and federal laws.
Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 5 years of inspection or quality related experience in metal fabrication and/or powder coat painting
• Previous supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of ISO/QMS systems.
• Ability to read prints with working knowledge of GD&T and strong shop mathematics.
• Strong leadership, decision making, organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written).
• Multi-tasker with good time management skills
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency especially Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Proficiency with inspection equipment and precision measuring instruments including CMM using PC-DMIS
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bilingual (English/Spanish)
• ASQ Certifications
• Experience using Discus FAI Software
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Exert 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time, walk about the facility to access and move materials
• Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel
• Ability to read documents, prints, computer screens and quality instruments.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typical metal manufacturing environment with exposure to powder coat paint facility. Combination office and factory work that involves sitting, walking, standing, bending and lifting.
