To oversee the daily operations of the Quality Lab including all quality testing, auditing, and inspection activities. As an integral part of the Quality team, this position will be challenged to assure and improve product quality through prevention, in order to fulfill customers and market requirements.
Managing and optimize the workflow in the laboratory.
- Cross training of technicians
- Schedule optimal coverage according to the needs of the Production and Planning/Sales
- Prioritize lab testing tasks: inspection and release of raw materials, intermediates and finish goods.
- Manage the follow up tests for QIR including customer returns.
- Oversees incoming product inspection and releases.
- Implement new test equipment and methods as necessary.
Internal quality results communication
- Communicate quality-problems to Production and Planning
- Identify and communicate out of trend or problematic issues, e.g. the moisture results of powders from each line
- Communicate major quality issues to the floor when they arise to increasing quality awareness (e.g. arrangement together with production supervisor/manager, weekly quality slides for huddle meetings)
- Encourage all personnel to be part of the solution by visiting the lab if they recognize any deviation in the quality
Managing, optimizing and fixing QC processes
- Assist to manage the at-risk inventory (on hold, restricted and rejected) and running QI report weekly at minimum
- Block suspected and material that does not fulfill the requirements. Propose a usage decision for this material (MRB, rework, scrap) to the Quality Manager
- Assist to setup the inspection plan in SAP and prevent the disappearance of inspection plans
Other related projects:
- Support projects related to introduce new materials, packaging, products and processes
- Perform other projects as required; Automotive (re-) domestication efforts and plant troubleshooting & investigations.
- Perform other projects or assignments as required.
- BS or advanced degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and/or process optimization
- Strong understanding of statistical process control, statistics and customer integration
- Strong customer and quality focus, strong hands-on commitment
- Excellent oral communication, technical presentation and writing skills
- Capable of interfacing with cross-functional departments toward a common goal
- 5+ years’ experience in supervision
- Understand the ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is plus
