The Oregon Perinatal Collaborative (OPC) is Oregon's only program focused on developing statewide Quality Improvement initiatives focused on improving the health of mothers, birthing people, and babies during this critical period of time prior, during and after birth. The collaborative has participation from many of the major providers of health care services to the Oregon community, representing approximately 70% of the births. Under the supervision of the Managing Director, the Quality Improvement Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of this program. This will include organization, implementation, and administration of Quality Improvement projects developed by OPC with stakeholders participating in the collaboration. In addition, this position will have a role in the OPC Governing Committee, facilitating the development of annual work plans and managing the agendas and follow-up developed as a result of the activities of this committee.


The Oregon Perinatal Collaborative Quality Improvement Coordinator’s role is to facilitate and contribute to the achievement of OPC’s goals to improve outcomes and experience of care for Oregon mothers, birthing people, and infants.  The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the OPC, coordination with staff and OPC partners, and administration of Quality Improvement initiatives

 

A quality specialist (QS) is the member of the OPC team responsible for providing quality management, performance improvement, and regulatory guidance. Quality Specialists’ primary focus is on healthcare priority initiatives, improvement of patient care systems and processes.

 

Quality Specialists bring a lens of sensitivity, and appreciation for equity and racial justice, cultural humility, and inclusiveness to their daily work.

 

QS’s collaborate with hospitals, providers, the Oregon Health Authority, families, and other stakeholders to prioritize and align Quality Improvement activities and report performance at OPC. QS’s coach, teach, consult, analyze data, and make recommendations for improving quality.  Specific duties vary based on assignments.


  • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Realated Field.
  • 3 years recent clinical healcare, public health, or health administration experience.
  • Mindfulness in diversity, equity, and inclusion practices, particularly adept at collaborating with others who have varying perceptions of diversity, equity, and inclusion with sensitivity to multicultural variances.
  • Brings a lens of sensitivity, and appreciation for equity and racial justice, cultural humility, and inclusiveness to their practice.
  • Able to interact across cultural differences with diverse partners, including collaborating with others who have varying perceptions of diversity, equity, and inclusion with sensitivity to multicultural variances and facilitating teams.
  • Evidence of knowledge base and experience in understanding of statistical analysis and reporting practices pertinent to Quality Improvement.

  • Master's degree or higher in healthcare or public health.
  • Hold a license in healthcare (i.e. RN, CNM, physical therapist, physician)
  • Minimum 3 years recent experience in healthcare, public health working with vulnerable populations, quality management, performance improvement, and/or regulatory standards in healthcare.
  • Direct clinical care with OB/GYN experience. 
  • Experience in teaching and/or working with others in the mitigating of structural racism and the disparities that result from in in healthcare.
  • Knowledge/experience in LEAN, Six Sigma, Project Management and other performance improvement tools.
