The Quality Engineer will initially be expected to have full responsibility for the quality of all UX Engines. Ensuring all remanufactured engines are built in accordance with required specifications and requirements. In addition, this position will be responsible for ensuring cause and corrective actions are identified for internal engine defects as well as escapes. This position will also support cleanliness requirements and ensure compliance. Please note that this position requires working on-site as an essential function. Specifically, job responsibilities include:

Essential Responsibilities:

• Primary focus on UX engine assembly.
• Proactively identify opportunities for continuous improvement related to engine quality and reliability.
• Perform problem solving, RCA, and implement sustainable solutions.
• Drive quality assurance/control projects/activities including methods, tools, policies, plans, and deployment.
• Work with operations team to ensure teardown and requalification processes to eliminate handling damage and ensure all parts repeatably meet cleanliness specifications.
• Ensure compliance to engineering engine assembly drawings and specifications, improve clarity, resolve conflicts, and/or ambiguity.
• Ensure engine genealogy is fully complete, accurate, and easily accessible.
• Validate customer requirements for new Engine DLs are properly translated into drawings, BOM's, and physically built to customer requirement.
• Perform proactive Assembly Hall audits to ensure compliance to drawings, specifications, and standard operating procedures.
• Provide daily quality support for Assembly Hall; Drive timely closure of all Assembly Hall NCMR's, CAR's, audit findings, and NON's related to UX engines.
• Create and maintain weekly communication plan with management and hourly on engine reliability.
• Communicate and work closely with the other Grove City site (GRV) test and quality team.
• Track engine defects escaping to test cells and partners/customers, ensure evaluation of root cause, and follow up on actions to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure adherence to engine bearing drop frequency requirements.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma / GED with at least five (5) years of experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum of five (5) years of manufacturing experience.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience performing root cause analysis of defective products.
• Statistically literate and familiar with Six Sigma quality concepts and tools.
• Experience manufacturing, remanufacturing, or servicing diesel engines or locomotives.
• Experience with Reliance, Proficy, Shop Support, eServices, Loco History, i360, and/or other existing Wabtec supply chain quality or operational data sources.
• Change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to motivate others and achieve results.
• Demonstrated commitment for process improvement.
• Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously.
