Job description

The Quality Director will lead, strategically prioritize, and manage all aspects of the Food Quality and Safety Programs. Located on-site at HARIBO of America’s brand new state-of-the-art gummi factory in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin (Kenosha, WI metro area, on I-94), the Quality Director drives process improvements to resolving quality issues, addressing facility and production matters.
Reporting up to the Chief Operations Officer, the Quality Director will also be responsible for the strategic training, auditing, problem-solving, providing dispositions, and assuring corrective actions are properly implemented. This leadership role actively partners with Operations to support the production of high quality HARIBO products, consistently and efficiently.

Responsibilities:
  • Leadership role in the creation and sustainability of the facilities Quality Culture, bringing the culture to life daily.
  • Achieves operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews.
  • Oversee, identify, and resolve problems by completing audits, determining system improvements, and implementing change.
  • Develop and lead root cause/corrective action system for tracking customer and supplier quality performance.
  • Ensure all external customer complaints are handled systematically, root cause analysis and other tools are used to prevent repeating the complaints.
  • Ensure the manufacturing is performed in line with local, state, and federal laws and regulations and establish systems to update the organization on time to do so.
  • Oversee internal supplier certification, including quality plans, and work instructions.
  • Implement and maintain quality programs including sampling plans, process capability studies and quality system audits.
  • Audit and supervise the day to day operations systematically and give ad hoc and systematic feedback to operational departments.
  • Lead inventory hold process and manage block and unblock inventory with quality issues.
  • Lead and maintain traceability system.
  • Direct the tracking of defects, test results or reported quality control data.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or other science or scientific related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a Quality Assurance leadership role or related field in Confectionary or Food Industry
  • Prior experience working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Proven understanding of FDA food regulations, including FSMA and labeling regulations
  • Familiar with FSSC 22000 Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and quality regulations on the Federal, State, and Local leves
  • Food Safety Certifications such as CFSP, ServSafe, and HACCP

Preferred Qualifications:
  • SAP proficiency
  • Advanced skills in MS Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to lead, develop, coach and hold others accountable to HARIBO’s high standards
