Title: Quality Control Technician
Travel estimate: 15% Intrastate (Dependent on location)
Education: High School Diploma, equivalent or higher – dependent on commensurate experience Requirements: Valid Driver’s License
Reports to: Quality Manager
Quality Control Technician will conduct physical inspections for quality related project requirements at the Houston manufacturing site, remote sites, and vendor sites. Perform receipt inspection of parts and items, verifying for compliance and preventing nonconforming material from being introduced to the value stream.
Overview of Quality Control Technician Roles and Responsibilities:
Departmental
- Auditing experience strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, writing and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) requirements
- Standard manufacturing process knowledge
- Familiarity with Customer Requirements
Role Specific
- Complete 100%-dimensional inspections on all incoming vendor parts.
- Developing and maintaining company inspection reports.
- Document ALL rejected parts using correct documentation.
- Investigate practices and procedures and perform internal quality system audit to determine quality standards and whether these standards are being met. Implement corrective action as required.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments and test equipment. This will include but not be limited to: Micrometers, Calipers, Measuring Tape, Protractor and Radius Gauges, etc.
- Work with Engineering and vendors to correct defects or issues.
- Maintain clean and orderly work area including equipment and performs all assignments in a safe manner and in accordance with established procedures.
- Visual acuity to read directions and prints to ensure they meet standards.
- Physical ability to perform work requiring frequent stooping, bending. Ability to lift and carry 50lbs frequently.
- Perform VT on in-process and completed welded assemblies per AWS D1.1 and D14.1.
- Perform fit-up inspections.
- Identifying possible areas for improvement in Quality Control processes.
Experience
- 2+ years quality assurance or control experience preferred.
- Proficiency using SAP is preferred.
Traits / Skills
- Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and the ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision; must be a self-starter
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Welding inspection background
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, both mechanical and electrical
- Self-directed and the ability to interact with supervisors, engineers, and customers effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
- Strong teamwork and networking skills
Preferred Candidate will have:
Familiarity with Quality Assurance and Control processes in a regulated environment
