POSITION SUMMARY
Okanagan Specialty Fruits Inc. (OSF) is seeking an experienced Quality Control Supervisor for its Moses Lake apple processing facility. This position is responsible for monitoring, documenting, and ensuring that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), finished goods specifications, process sheets and/or standard operating procedures (SOP) are all followed during process to achieve a good quality on the products.
Oversight of the Food Safety and Quality Programs specific to the facility. This role has the overall responsibility accountability of insuring that the food safety and quality programs are fully implemented and documented to ensure compliance of production of safe and wholesome products.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Knowledge of standard operating procedures (SOPs), sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOPs), GMPs, normal operating procedures, and food safety (HACCP)
- Oversight of Pre-operative and post-operative inspections of Equipment and Facility
- Supervise QC personnel to perform in their job function and acts as a guide that aids them as needed.
- Operational Inspections- & Facility Internal Audit GMP, Food Safety
- Investigate Foreign Material Incidents / Failures
- Product Hold/Segregation/Release
- Review & Oversight Product sampling, microbiological testing, and environmental microbiological testing
- Oversight of Inspection of all incoming raw materials including apples and packaging
- The safe handling of all raw materials
- Maintenance of required temperatures for products and rooms
- Documentation control of all quality documents
- Coverage of all positions themselves or adequately delegate coverage
- Manage work assignments and training of personnel in specific food safety and QA; with ability to work a flexible schedule
- Develop and foster a strong working and collaborative relationship with plant managers and production employees
- Promotes a strong Food safety culture

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years’ experience in the Quality Assurance and Control Leadership regulated industry
- A background in manufacturing and processing environments is preferred.
- Proven analytical strengths and experience
- Food production knowledge FSMA and GFSI scheme, BRCGS or SQF knowledge preferred
- HACCP & PCQI Preferred (ability to complete within 30 days)
- In depth microbiological testing and limited chemical preferred
- Min 2 years’ experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management
- Advanced Knowledge of database, inventory, MFR software, spreadsheets and word processing software
- Knowledge in various pathogen and microbes associated with food production
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
- Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs safely
- Standing for long periods of time, frequent twisting and bending, use of both hands, manual & finger dexterity for rolling/manipulating
- Cold, wet, and damp climates of 33°F-38°F
- Exposure to loud noises
- The requirement of the use of safety equipment when operating machinery that may include but will not be limited to protective clothing, eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and safety shoes.
