Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure compliance to food safety requirements
· Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
· Adhere to safety rules and procedures
· Supervise the quality inspectors in their role of in-process inspection of finished goods and rollstock
· Provide technical assistance to all departments.
· Lead quality inspectors to perform 1st piece inspection on all production startups, and ensure they perform timely in-process inspections throughout the production of finished goods, rollstock, equipment according to the sampling plan
· Perform 1st article inspection of new and revised tools
· Remain current on past and present complaints and provide guidance to quality inspectors regarding these nonconformances and their corrective actions.
· Ensure quality inspectors are monitoring extrusion lines according to the requirement in the Quality Inspector job description.
· Ensure the quality inspectors collect and maintain samples of non conformances to facilitate accept, rework, or reject disposition decisions
· Provide the disposition decisions on the nonconforming product and roll stock, and utilize the guidance of the Director of Quality & Food Safety, the Quality Supervisor-Samples Coordinator, and the Plant Manager for these decisions, when needed
· When nonconforming product is placed on hold, follow up to make sure inspectors have logged the hold on the hold log, form NF-004; completed the hold form, NF-013 and attached hold signs to all pallets/gaylords/rolls placed on hold.
· Communicate with shipping and receiving daily regarding product on hold, and its status; and in turn request that the shipping and receiving team provide their priority level for any potential shipments(s) of these items
· Control inspector behavior in production and storage areas concerning food-safety programs, company policies, and other employee requirements.
· Ensure quality laboratories are well kept, cleaned regularly and do not contain prohibited items
· Oversee any repack/rework activitiesand ensure it is fully documented in terms of quantity of product salvaged and lost
· Manage return receipts by quarantining, counting, inspecting returns according to the RMA Receiving Checklist, form NF-036.
· Presenting the RMA Receiving Checklist, form NF-036 to the Quality Supervisor / Samples coordinator for disposition and issuance of credit Also provide the Quality Supervisor / Samples coordinator any other relevant information about the return, including issues with quantity, condition, etc.
· Other duties as assigned.
