Summary:

The primary role of the Quality Control Specialist (MEP) is to ensure that all MEP subcontractors are performing their contractual duties in accordance with applicable building codes, drawings, specifications, and other project requirements as applicable.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities of Quality Control Specialist (MEP):

Identifying and detailing the scope of work required for MEP subcontractors during the bid process.

Assisting in MEP subcontractor buy-out, negotiation and contract preparation.

Coordinating critical milestones and material delivery requirements with MEP subcontractors to assist in creating the project schedule

Working with authorities having jurisdiction to ensure all MEP permitting, service, utility and other third-party requirements are being met.

Collecting, reviewing and administering MEP submittals and RFIs

Creating a project specific quality plan and coordinating with project teams to ensure construction best practices are utilize on each project.

Conducting on-site pre-construction meetings with MEP subcontractors.

Performing construction observations, administration and evaluation of contractor performance to ensure project deliverable sand quality standards are achieved

Working closely with the site superintendent, project coordinator and Director of Construction to ensure project schedules are being maintained by MEP subcontractors.

Secondary Functions:

Working closely with the Director of Construction to create and administer project construction schedules.

Working closely with the pre-construction team and project coordinator to ensure all information shared with MEP subcontractors is up to date and accurate.


Job Scope:

This role will require regular interaction and communication with personnel within and outside our company. Daily tasks will vary, but will include those listed as Essential Functions above.The Quality Control Specialist (MEP) does not have authorization to engage in monetary agreements (subcontracts, change orders, work authorizations). All request for monetary agreements must be communicated to Project Manager for consideration prior to work performed.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Quality Control Specialist shall supervise the MEP subcontractors in both project management and field aspects for all projects. This supervision shall ensure subcontractors are prepared to complete their work in accordance with all applicable codes, laws and contract documents to the requirements of the project schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in and strong familiarity with all plumbing, mechanical and electrical construction

Strong knowledge of construction sequencing

Strong critical thinking, creative problem-solving skills

Strong communication and listening skills utilizing telephone, email, written logs and reports, etc.

Ability to build relationships and deal with issues calmly

Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications

Endurance and ability to survey entire job site, including stairs or other elevated structures.

This position involves work at a construction site where duties will be performed both indoors and outdoors.

Requires travel to and from jobsites and jobsite walk-throughs or pre-bid meetings; may require staying away from home for long periods;

Weekend and off hours work may be required to meet project deadlines;

Dexterity of hands and fingers needed to operate tools, a computer keyboard, mouse and other business machines;

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk;

Use hands to finger, handle, or feel;

Reach with hands and arms;

Climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and

Speak and hear;

The employee is occasionally required to sit;

Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling.

Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.

Other Qualifications:

Must be able to travel to the jobsite(s) as assigned;

Must have a valid drivers license and verifiable, acceptable driving record;

OSHA 30 preferred; must be willing to obtain OSHA 30 upon hire if not already certified;

Must be subject to criminal and government background checks required for public work.

Reporting Structure: Will report directly to the Director of Construction.

Job Types/Location:

Work for this full-time position will take place primarily from our headquarters in North Andover, MA with frequent, short visits to job site locations that may be located throughout the Eastern region of the U.S., generally along the East Coast;

Company will coordinate housing and transportation needs for this employee at job sites located more than one hour from employees place of residence;
