E.T. Browne Drug Co., Inc., the manufacturer/marketer of Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula, and other products, has an immediate opening for a QC Microbiologist I at Hayward Labs, Inc., our facility in East Stroudsburg, PA just minutes from Northwest NJ.
Job Description
The QC Microbiologist Iis responsible for performing microbial content testing of cosmetic products in an accurate, consistent, and precise manor using standard operating procedures. Documentation, recording, interpreting, and reporting of data to a supervisor according to USP, FDA, and ISO standards is required. Utilizing appropriate computer software such as MS Office, Syspro, etc., is also required. The individual must be able to work independently in a fast-paced team environment and handle multiple projects. The individual must also possess good communication skills and the ability to interact with cross-functional teams such as QC, QA, manufacturing, and others as necessary.
Responsibilities
- Perform microbial content testing on raw materials, in-process bulk, and finished product samples.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records of the above testing in a computer and/or laboratory notebooks to prepare report(s).
- Read, interpret, and analyze microbial content test results accurately.
- Concisely communicate test results to supervisor(s) and necessary cross-functional team(s).
- Prepare culture media, perform all necessary GPT testing, and maintain all applicable documentation for these tasks in a computer and/or laboratory notebook.
- Dispose of culture and media waste according to standard operating procedures.
- Organize, maintain, and control lab supplies inventory to support all microbiology lab activities.
- Set up, adjust, calibrate, clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment including autoclave.
- Endeavor to acquire new technology related to microbiology.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Experience
- B.S. degree in Microbiology, or equivalent science with microbiology courses, is mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques, media preparation, and culture maintenance.
- Knowledge of current FDA, USP, EU and ISO microbial content testing procedures.
- Media preparation, culture maintenance, and culture/media waste disposal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple tasks, and effectively prioritize.
- 1-2 years of experience performing microbial or chemical tests on cosmetics or pharmaceutical formulas.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications
- B.S. degree in Microbiology, or equivalent science with microbiology courses, is mandatory.
- Basic knowledge of aseptic techniques, media preparation, and culture maintenance.
- Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
