The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for managing all aspects of the quality, food safety, regulatory compliance programs and requirements. These include maintaining all FDA FSMA, food safety records, sanitation, plant audits, mock recall programs and training the plant on these issues and procedures. The Plant Quality Manager will support the R&D Team on new product launches.
The Plant Quality Manager will have the opportunity to:
- Drive improvements positively influencing the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), Manage Dashboards, and Scorecards relative to quality, food safety, regulatory compliance, cost and on-time delivery.
- Build and reinforce quality acumen with plant teams partnering deeply with the production and maintenance teams.
- Maintain product quality by ensuring compliance with quality assurance policies and procedures and government requirements; collaborating with other members of management to develop training methods.
- Manage and direct the quality assurance activities for the plant, all processes from raw ingredients/materials to shipping/receiving- to include syrup preparation and distribution, microbiology, sanitation, finished product analysis, package integrity testing, FDA FSMA, HACCP/GMP and process control.
- Provides effective supervision to Quality Assurance/Control Technicians, by providing coaching, counseling and disciplining employees; planning, monitoring and appraising performance results.
- Oversee and direct the efforts of the Food Safety Plan/HACCP to be compliant with FSMA-Preventive Control plan, including GMP auditing and corrective action plan deployment.
- Provide daily dispositions and resolutions to production quality issues.
Interested candidates will have the following qualifications:
- BS degree in food science, biology or equivalent degree from an accredited university
- 5-10 years of food quality manufacturing experience applying comprehensive, hands-on knowledge of statistical process control, design of experiment and CAPA (Corrective Action / Preventive Action) expertise.
- Experience with introducing new products, materials, and processes required. Carbonated soft drink industry preferred.
- Demonstrated management and training experience of quality technician, quality auditors, sanitation and process documentation development
- Working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications
- Experience with HACCP, FSMA, FSSC 22000, SQF, or equivalent Food Safety standards. Must be FDA PCQI Certified
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across a broad variety of areas
- Ability to positively and comfortably handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with self-motivation and focused attention to detail.
- Experience in successfully leading food manufacturing quality/food safety teams and sanitation programs with a clear understanding of all aspects of blending, product attributes recordkeeping and yields
- Must be able to travel occasionally, work in a team environment, and occasionally work a flexible schedule.
- Strong financial acumen able to manage ingredient inventories and departmental expenses to budget
- Understands and able to implement all OSHA required training
- Able to lift or carry 50lbs as necessary - to collect product samples for tests and for shipping
