Position Description Summary: AOC Metal Works is the Southeast’s and Mid-Atlantic’s premier, full service metal subcontract manufacturer. In the manufacture of metal parts, which in turn are used to make countless other products, the purpose of Quality Control (QC) is to not only prevent defects, but also ensure that the parts are made to design specifications and will function properly.
Our Quality Assurance team seeks a Quality Control Inspector to conduct in-process inspections and document the results. Other duties revolve around shop floor documentation accuracy and maintenance. The successful candidate will have a creative, innovative approach to his/her work and offer frank observations and recommendations. We’re looking for a highly organized, methodical individual with experience in a fast-paced metal fabrication environment.
Principal Accountabilities: (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
- Inspect raw materials to ensure consistency and integrity
- Perform in-process inspections at all work stations to ensure compliance with part specifications
- Ensure all employees complete FAI (First Article Inspection) of parts
- Effectively communicate quality issues with Shift Lead, Dept. Supervisor, and QA Team
- Visually ensure that product is accurately tagged
- Assist with other duties and projects as assigned
- Adhere to safety procedures and regulations
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
Education, Knowledge, Experience and Skills Required for Position:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Knowledge and proven Quality Control work experience in a manufacturing environment, metal fabrication required
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a PLUS
- Effective time management skills required
- Strong organization skills required
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings
- Proficient in using calipers, protractor and reading a tape measure
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 lbs
- Ability to work in a hot/cold warehouse environment
