Description Responsibilities
Conduct monthly audits of Claims Processors and Quality Control Reviewers and complete monthly audit report to ensure Processors and Quality Control Reviewers meet departmental quality standards and identify training opportunities.
Assist with Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) claim reporting and year end processing of DBL (NY City Workers, Marist.
Support Business Analyst III in future releases of the claims payment system V3, LITS in addition to back-end support for the Employer Portal & Disability Module.
Provide training for the disability and life claims staff, including new releases and system updates; assist in training external Fund staff on system, as needed to ensure that staff has the necessary systems knowledge to efficiently process disability and life insurance benefits.
Train Claims Processors and Quality Control Reviewers on disability and/or life claims processing; coordinate special training sessions for the department with internal and external resources; document trainee's progress; assist with problems stemming from difficult and unusual claims; help processing staff meet departmental production and quality standards.
Review of disability and life inquiries as well as audit results to evaluate and determine any departmental training needs.
Provide management with analytics reports monthly.
Maintain accountability for updating Policy & Procedures for both disability & life insurance departments.
Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of work experience required
- Minimum three (3) years experience as a Claims Processor and Quality Control Reviewer handling disability and life insurance claims; to include experience working with claims payment system
- Experience as a Trainer or Business Analyst preferred
- Comprehensive knowledge of disability and life insurance claims processing and 1199SEIU benefit plans required; knowledge of medical claims processing preferred.
- Experience in member services and knowledge of pension benefits preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel a must; knowledge of other software reporting packages preferred.
- Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to work well independently and as a team player
- Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to multi-task and meet operational deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure, maintain professional manner and presentation
