Quality Assurance Technician

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The Quality Technician will ensure that Grip-Tite products meet the highest quality standards before they are shipped to customers. The person in this position will ensure products are manufactured and engineered to the highest standards in durability and safety.

FOCUS:

• Identifies defects and non-conformities in products and reports them back to the appropriate team members.
• Develops and maintains inspection procedures and protocols.
• Keeps production supervisors and other team members aware of defects and analyzes root cause(s) – people, machine, raw materials, etc. Works with appropriate parties to find the best solution.
• Conducts investigations of quality issues and areas of non-compliance and maintains documents for all corrective and preventative actions.
• Participates in CI initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce defects.
• Works with those involved in production training to ensure that all operators are trained in quality standards in addition to safety, productivity, etc.
• Documents and retains records of receiving inspections. Rejects nonconforming material and initiates nonconforming material reports. Compiles monthly rejection report on supplier for performance.
• Audits paperwork to ensure all is filled out correctly; confirming quality checks have been performed by operators.
• Audits parts and materials in stock. Sorts and certifies parts as needed.
• Participates with internal audit groups and performs internal audits, as necessary.
• Prepares and distributes quality reports as requested.
• Preforms calibration of calipers, micrometers, tape measures, gauges, and other items built in the tool room.
• Responds to procedural problems and technical questions for personnel with respect to quality or other requirements.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

• Ability to display confidence and positivity.
• Works with various software programs – ERP system, MS Office products.
• Demonstrated ability to provide motivation to teammates and inspiration through work ethic, knowledge base, leadership, and commitment.
• Knowledge of quality control standards and regulations
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in manufacturing is desired.

• Works with a sense of urgency and demonstrates responsiveness and promptness in serving internal and external customer needs.
• Participates in and / or leads team projects as assigned.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and proprietary information of the company.

EDUCATION:

• High school diploma: associate or bachelor’s degree in QC or related field is preferred.
• ASQ and/or ISO 9001 certification is a plus.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
