The Quality Assurance Supervisor manages others in the QA department, and is responsible for maintaining a productive, positive team that supports manufacturing, packaging, and warehousing, while ensuring products meet GMPs, are of high quality, and meet customer requirements.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor shall work with production managers/supervisors and clerks to determine their team’s activities, establish priorities, and communicate tasks to QA, ensuring schedules are maintained.
Daily Team Activities:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for coordinating, delegating, and monitoring the Team’s Daily Activities, and assisting as needed, to ensure completion of the following:
- Sampling, inspection, testing, approval, labeling of incoming materials
- Sampling, inspecting, testing of in-process products in a timely, accurate manner
- Inspecting rooms, materials, equipment throughout the manufacturing process
- Ensuring proper documentation, labeling, batch record reviews
- Review and release of raw materials, packaging components, and finished products
Compliance Activities:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for ongoing Compliance Activities including:
- Addressing incidents, atypical material issues, and additional inspections, in a timely manner
- Initiating and completing non-conformances and CAPA follow-up
- Initiating, supporting, completing, & reviewing investigations and deviations
- Recommending, as appropriate, the suspension of production, or holding of a product to confirm quality standards have been achieved.
- Maintaining quality databases, including annual review information, and ensuring they are current and accurate
- Assisting with maintenance of documentation including forms, SOPs, work instructions, calibration documentation, change control, specifications, batch records.
- Supporting the overall company GMP training program and conducting training for changes to policies and procedures
- Supporting ongoing quality improvement initiatives
- Supporting Quality Director during audits and inspections
Supervisory Activities:
The Quality Assurance Supervisor is responsible for the following team related Supervisory Activities:
- Scheduling of Quality Assurance personnel, including use of a time and attendance system, to monitor time-off requests, attendance, to ensure adequate coverage at each site, and approving over-time only as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to company procedures by daily observation of team’s activities and scheduled GMP walkthroughs.
- Planning and conducting regular QA team meetings. Attending and contributing to production and planning meetings.
- Conducting QA training and maintaining records.
- Interviewing, hiring, training, and developing all direct reports, ensuring employees can function effectively in a team-based, cooperative culture.
- Completing ongoing, documented performance evaluations, discipline as necessary, and annual reviews
- Establishing goals in support of employee development and provides ongoing mentoring and coaching as a form of training and continuous improvement.
- Providing timely, useful information and data to the Quality Director
