Job Description

Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SQF code for certification. SQF Practitioner duties as defined by the code. Full understanding of the code and upkeep with code changes.

Lead and prepare third-party audits and plant inspections with key customers and regulatory agencies.

Have a thorough knowledge of HACCP methodologies, microbiological, physical and chemical hazards, risk assessment and control plan requirements. Apply knowledge to develop, teach and maintain HACCP plans.

Maintain testing policies and procedures to ensure testing logs are organized and up to date.

Responsible for the document management system, maintaining all QA records. Teach and coach team members to appreciate and adhere to document control processes.

Development an oversight of the sanitation program including SSOP’s and Master Sanitation Program.

Set up, design and conduct internal audits and monitor all in-process samples and finished products as per established quality methods.

Lead and coach team members to conduct effective and penetrating audits that identify gaps and facilitate creation of effective solutions.

Lead and provide strong managerial oversight for projects, requests, and problem-solving initiatives, internally and externally and with cross-functional teams.

Log, track and report to plant leadership information on SQF system nonconformance’s and corrective action progress.

Develop training materials which explain plant processes and the SQF code and provide that training to partners and leaders on a defined frequency.

Create and maintain the master training schedule. Prepare materials for, document and facilitate SQF System Management Reviews.

In conjunction with Quality Manager, identify and lead food safety, SQF and HACCP training programs for team members and other key employees.

Responsible for the Food Defense program

Maintain the allergen program, glass and brittle plastics program, and GMP program that support the SQF code.

Ensure compliance with all applicable food laws & regulations.

Keep up to date with changes in regulations, food laws, pertinent legislation and all other industry compliance issues that will impact our Food Safety & Quality programs; taking action as necessary to maintain compliance and bring these to the attention of Senior Managers as necessary.

Approve & monitor chosen suppliers of products & packaging via Approved Supplier Program.

Provide in-depth analytical support in the areas of food safety, sanitation, and quality in support of the Company's strategic goal.

Accept, hold or reject products, in-process samples, and finished goods.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required. Food Science, Biological Science or related science discipline preferred.
  • At least 5 year’s experience in Quality Assurance at a food manufacturing facility.
  • Quality experience in processing/packing/distribution environment.
  • SQF Practitioner and HACCP certification required. PCQI certification required.
  • Experience implementing or sustaining a GFSI food safety scheme (SQF, BRC, ISO, etc.).
  • Ability to read and interpret data related to specific quality criteria determined by our customers.
  • Ability to lead and manage projects and multitask.
  • Experienced in writing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Experience working with third party auditors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Organized and detail oriented.
  • Easily adapts when unexpected situations arise.
  • Work with data and details as well as offer ideas and suggestions to improve existing procedures.
  • Active listening skills to engage and motivate team members to a common goal.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
