Job Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for ensuring that products meet standards set by Kreher’s Farm Fresh Eggs, Eggland’s Best and regulatory authorities. The Quality Assurance Manager, working with the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, will implement Quality Assurance policies, programs and activities that will ensure compliance with company policies, food safety standards, government regulations, and industry best practices including SQF, GMP and HACCP. The Quality Assurance Manager will assist in conducting internal audits and managing audits by third-party inspectors. The Quality Assurance Manager will train other employees on Quality Assurance policies and practices and oversee various facets of egg processing. Working with the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance, the QAM will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s policies, procedures and practices are consistent across farms. This position will assist the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance and work directly on the processing floor with the Processing Supervisor, Shipping/Receiving Supervisor and others as part of the operations team.
Job Responsibilities
The main objective of the Quality Assurance Manager’s work is to:
Assist the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance ("Company SQF Practitioner") and:
- Lead the training of Food Safety and Food Quality Fundamentals
- Oversee implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF system
The Quality Assurance Manager will assist in the validation and changes to the Food Safety Fundamentals, Food Safety and Food Quality Plans and
- Ensure adherence toEggland’s Best requirements
- Complete and oversee paperwork that details various customer requirements
The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for the verification of the following:
- Pre-requisite Programs
- Food Safety and Quality limits (HACCP) plans
- Monitoring activities for:
- Control Points
- Quality Points
- Egg Grading done by USDA
- Egg Quality
- Eggland’s Best products and supplies
- Ovotrack – our track and trace program
- Sampling and /or Inspection:
- Raw Materials
- Finished product
- Conducting internal audits under the direction of the Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance (company SQF Practitioner)
- The Quality Assurance Manager will assist the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality Assurance with all audits such as FDA, EB, Sysco, etc.
- Performs other duties as required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The Quality Assurance Manager must be knowledgeable about all food safety standards that are customary within the food industry and mandated by government regulations including:
- Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP)
- Standards set by the Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI).
The Quality Assurance Manager must also have the following skills and abilities:

- Very organized – strong organization skills
- Strong interpersonal relationship skills – relationship builder
- Ability to influence the behavior of others (who may/may not be direct reports)
- Very process oriented with strong systems thinking skills
- Ability to travel occasionally to training/seminars and to attend professional organization meetings
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, chemistry or related field is preferred
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in Quality Assurance in a food processing plant
- Experience conducting audits, and working with auditors
