Purpose
Understand and implements all plant, company, and government standards for Food Safety, Product Quality, Environmental monitoring, HACCP, GMP's, and SQFI and Sanitation systems management.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for meeting all applicable food regulations (international, national, state, and local)
- Ensures that Sandridge Crafted Foods (SCF) products meet the company's standards and specifications.
- Ability to complete legible and accurate documentation.
- Ensures Food Safety and Quality Standard Requirements are being maintained daily.
- Ability to understand and comply with the company Preventive Controls plans, HACCP plans, and all Pre-Requisite programs and policies.
- Ability to communicate with any/all audiences at all levels about any Food Safety and Equipment concerns.
- Responsible for all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and Sanitation SOP's.
- Responsible for complying with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) standards (i.e. BRC, SQF, ISO).
- As the site SQF Practitioner, competently leads the SQFI program for the site.
- Responsible for documentation, control, and maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS) including procedures and records.)
- Works to maintain the safety, legality and quality of all ingredients, products, and the processes used in their manufacture.
- Responsible for meeting and exceeding customer requirements.
- Works to reduce customer/consumer complaints for foods manufactured on site using CI tools including, but not limited to root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures.
- Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Quality and Sanitation staff including training and development of team and clear identification and management of company initiatives.
- Reports food safety and quality issues, corrective actions, and preventive measures to the Plant Manager. Escalates issues to corporate FSQA as appropriate.
- Authorized to HOLD and release product based on food safety or quality non-conformance.
- Participates in daily operations meeting to identify possible defects and provide direction for improvement.
- Participates in physical inspections and generates reports on each area (pest control, operational methods, maintenance for food safety, sanitation, personnel practices, etc.).
- Responsible for assuring materials are received from SCF approved suppliers and conducts raw material supplier performance monitoring.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
- Effectively leads and/or participates in cross-functional teams.
- Effectively interacts with site regulatory agencies representatives (USDA) and records and resolves issues by leveraging resources both vertically and laterally.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Food Science Degree or related field.
- Training in HACCP (Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points).
- Credentialed as a SQF Practitioner.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of microbiology.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of food chemistry.
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of sanitation principles.
- Understands, embraces, and proactively manages to the Sandridge Foods Core Values system.
- 5 years food industry manufacturing or quality experience including supervisory experience.
- Professional-level writing, mathematics, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Basic competence with Microsoft Office software applications.
- Effective supervisory and communications skills.
- Ability to professionally multi-task and delegate as/where required, including cross-functionally.
- Able to develop trust and confidence at all levels.
- Demonstrated communication skills, including presentation and supervisory capabilities.
- Advanced understanding of food processing and basic knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations as they pertain to fully processed meat.
