Quality Assurance Lead, 2nd shift.
Tribe 9 Foods is a partnership of value-based brands (RP's Pasta Co., Carla's Pasta, Taste Republic, and Yumbutter) with a mission to promote eating and living well. Tribe 9 is positioned to make big inroads in the natural and conventional food space and is looking for somebody to support our team.
Summary:
Responsible for leading by example and encouraging adherence to our guiding principles and compliance standards. As a PM Quality Assurance Lead, on 2nd shift, you will be responsible for assigned duties while participating in our continuous improvement projects to broaden our core Quality Assurance functions for Tribe 9 Foods.
Hours and Work Schedule:
The work schedule is Monday - Friday from 2:00-10:30 pm, occasional weekend work and overtime is required. The position is non-exempt.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining and continuously improving our food safety and quality programs by reviewing, and updating SOPs, polices, procedures, reviewing quality data, and trending.
  • Help maintain certifications (GFSI, Organic, Kosher, etc.).
  • Assisting in third-party and internal Food Safety and quality audits.
  • Training and leading quality technician(s).
  • Manage shelf-life studies.
  • Customer complaints and non-conforming product investigations and corrective actions.
  • Assist in the hold and release program.
  • Perform environmental swabs and ensure necessary investigations and corrective actions occur with the assistance of the QA Manager.
  • Assist in responding to customer requests.
  • Any other duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements:
Specific qualifications for the role include:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science or related program.
  • Highly detail-oriented with 1+ year of QA experience required.
  • Self-motivated and able to lead and mentor QA efforts.
  • Able to enforce good manufacturing practices while maintaining a respectful and constructive plant culture.
  • Proficient with Excel and Word.
  • Good Communication (written and verbal) and organizational skills.
  • Must be fluent in English, fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing facility that produces products with allergen ingredients.
  • Availability to work flexible hours as required.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is subject to standing for prolonged periods; frequently walks, grasps, lifts, holds, or feels objects; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls. The employee frequently is required to use manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination when working and handling products, computers, or machinery. The employee is subject to assistance and support up to 50 pounds with varying amounts of assistance on an as-needed basis. The employee is required to have corrected vision and hearing within normal range and the ability to operate the equipment if required. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and non-moving mechanical parts. The employee could have work conditions that are extremely cold or extremely hot. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
