Job Overview:

Continental Tide is seeking an experienced NDT/Quality Assurance Inspector to support our Fleet Services Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing Quality Assurance inspections on Hull, Mechanical & Electrical (HM&E) systems and electronic systems on US Navy Ships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform Quality Assurance tasks associated with mechanical, structural, piping, and electrical repairs and installation of HM&E systems aboard ships.
  • Develop Test and Inspection (T&I) Plans, Process Control Procedures (PCP), and Condition Reports.
  • Review work packages prior to start-work and after work is complete for completeness, accuracy and compliance with technical specifications and requirements
  • Maintain OQE records retention
  • Perform shipboard surveillances of structural, piping, ventilation and electrical repairs and installation and generate QA reports.
  • Ensure completion of all necessary documentation and forms in accordance with Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Perform evaluation of subcontractors/vendors on the basis of their ability to meet Quality Assurance requirements
  • Assist with maintaining the Measuring and Monitoring Equipment (MME) Database including inspections, logging, and check-in/check-out of MME equipment for the Virginia Beach Office, VA.
  • Perform duties outside of specialty to assist production in other ways as necessary (i.e., Fire Watch, Tank Watch, general cleaning, etc.)
  • Assist Program Managers, Project Managers, and Supervisors with NAVSEA Standard Item and other customer related requirements to ensure work is conducted accurately and safely
  • Assist QAM to help prepare Corrective Action Requests, and Preventative Action requests as related to production work to ensure compliance with established policies procedures and work instructions.
  • Monitor compliance with company Quality and Safety Management Systems, Workmanship standards and Customer requirements
Experience and Skills

Requirements:

  • Must possess a high school, trade or industrial school diploma or degree
  • 5 - 8 years of experience performing Quality Assurance inspections within AIT industry
  • Ability to read and interpret ship installation drawings, government specifications and NAVSEA Standard Items is a must.
  • Certified NDT (Nondestructive Testing) Level II Inspector (VT, MT, PT) is preferred for individuals with a welding background
  • Paint experience with a NBPI or NACE certification is a plus.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain base access and security credentials.
  • Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
  • Ability to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to wear a respirator may be required.
  • Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States.
  • Detailed knowledge of shipboard/shipyard environment procedures, processes, methods and techniques.
  • Background or extensive knowledge of welding practices and procedures OR Background or extensive knowledge in electrical wiring, multi-pin connectors, and Fiber Optics.
  • Due to export control regulations, this role is open to U.S. citizens only.

  • Must be Proficient in Microsoft Project and Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
