Job description

The Air Science & Tech team is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to be part of a team of developers supporting Amazon Air.
The ideal candidate should be a leader, quick learner and be able to work independently. He/she should be able to operate in a very fast paced environment where time to hit market is super critical. The candidate will need to balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.
Key job responsibilities
As a QAE on the team, you will champion the quality of our features in our development pipeline using both automated and manual tests, reporting and verifying defects, and signing-off on features and release candidates. You will own authoring and execution of test plans and test cases. You will have a significant impact on the quality and delivery speed of our software, our business, and most importantly to our customers. You will work closely with developers, program & product managers, and other QA in order to ensure the features delivered to our customers have a high level of quality. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to propose improvements to our existing processes and automated tools in order to improve the team's speed, quality, and efficiency with least technical debt
The ideal candidate should be passionate about delivering experiences that delight customers by creating solutions that are robust. A commitment to team work and strong communication skills (to both business and technical partners) are absolute requirements. Creating reliable, scalable, and high-performance products requires exceptional technical expertise, a sound understanding of the fundamentals of technology, and practical experience building distributed systems. This person has experience thriving and succeeded in delivering high quality technology products/services in a high growth environment.
Key job responsibilities
1. Business Acumen and ability to understand the functionality of the application they are testing
2. Expertise in building automation scripts using Java or Python
3. Ability to work with the Project/Program manager to ensure QA tests are part of the SDLC
A day in the life
A typical QAE in Air Science & Tech will start the day by looking into the tasks to complete for the day, attend scrum and other critical meetings with the development & QA teams they are working with and provide QA status and ensure QA task is not blocking the delivery of the features.
