The Test Automation Engineer designs and executes automated software tests in order to identify software problems and their causes prior to release.

  • Review user stories and other system specifications and ensure that they are clearly written, unambiguous, complete, and objectively verifiable, providing appropriate feedback and recommendations for improvement as necessary.
  • Develop testing programs that address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios, regression testing, negative testing, error or bug retests, or usability.
  • Document software defects, using a bug tracking system, and report defects to software developers.
  • Understand manual test cases clearly and convert them to automated test cases which can be executed with multiple browsers and devices as needed.
  • Create appropriate test data as needed to support the software verification, including the use of automated tools or scripts to generate or import test data after database refresh.
  • Document test procedures to ensure replicability and compliance with standards. Enhance automation framework based on technology/application changes.
  • Automate the execution of the software verification as much as possible, striving to maximize automated test coverage and minimize the manual effort required to deliver high-quality software.
  • Collaborate with members of multiple Scrum teams to understand their test automation needs, incorporate those into the roadmap for our test automation tools, and support those Scrum teams in applying automation tools to their projects.
  • Monitor, track, & report metrics to quantify test automation and software quality for your applications.
  • Participate in team code reviews, both reviewing code / tests created by others and submitting your own test cases, test data, and test scripts / automations for review.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computers Science or related field AND
  • Three (3) years of experience in automated software testing with Selenium/Java.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to automate tests using commercial or open sources tools.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and assume full responsibility for test case automation on time.
  • Experience with developing and testing applications hosted in Amazon Web Services, including ability to navigate core AWS technologies such as AWS console, EC2, Lambda, and Cloudwatch to troubleshoot issues and document defects.
  • Knowledge of SQL, preferably Postgres
  • Familiar with core web technologies such as HTTP, FTP, and REST
  • Ability to use API-oriented tools such as Postman or curl.
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities and a strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, software testing concepts, and test methodologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, maintaining strong relationships with peers and management outside of the department.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio, etc.); Web proficiency.
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time
  • Ability to clear required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in one or more languages: Python, Shell Scripting, Java
  • Experience in Test automation using Selenium.
  • Experience testing internationalized systems.
  • Experience working with an offshore or remote team.

Compensation & Benefits: Stride, Inc. considers a person's education, experience, and qualifications, as well as the position's work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value when determining a new employee's salary level. Salaries will differ based on these factors, the position's level and expected contribution, and the employee's benefits elections. Offers will typically be in the bottom half of the range.
  • We anticipate the salary range to be $48,000 to $104,000. The upper end of this range is not likely to be offered, as an individual's compensation can vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions. Eligible employees may receive a bonus. Stride offers a robust benefits package for eligible employees that can include health benefits, retirement contributions, and paid time off.
