We are seeking a Qualified Crisis Behavior Professional (Behavior Professional) to join our Stabilization and Crisis Unit (SACU) team of dedicated and compassionate individuals.
This is the schedule we are filling in Portland.
  • Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with some flexibility needed to work some nights and weekends monthly.

What you need to qualify
You must meet at least one of the following:
(a) Possess a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst® (BCBA®) graduate level certification in behavior analysis AND one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities.
OR
(b) Possess a Master of Arts or Master of Science in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, or other social or behavioral sciences, or the equivalent, AND one year of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities or other related conditions.
OR
(c) Possess a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in psychology, sociology, human services, education, social work, social sciences, behavioral sciences, or the equivalent as evidenced by transcripts indicating a minimum of six courses in these fields, AND two years of experience using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities, or other related conditions.
OR
(d) A minimum of six years of experience providing professional behavior services using positive behavior support services with individuals who experience intellectual or developmental disabilities prior to January 1, 2023.

Essential attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
  • Experience working in-person with individuals who regularly exhibit challenging behavior, including significant emotional and/or physical behaviors towards themselves or others.
  • Experience working independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Experience reading and writing complex support documents rapidly.
  • Experience meeting a variety of deadlines, some of which may have short timeframes for completion.
  • Experience working with data-collection programs, such as Therap, or other similar types of computer programs.
  • Experience performing in-person training on behavior supports to a diverse work group.

Your duties at a glance
The
Stabilization and Crisis Unit
(SACU) operates 20 residential group homes along the I-5 corridor from Portland to Eugene and provides 24-hour residential care and supervision to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, often with co-occurring mental health diagnoses, whose support needs exceed the supports offered or provided by other community-based residential programs. We provide training and support for the purpose of assisting individuals in safely transitioning back to their home community. We model positive attitudes while offering health and medical supports, psychological services, emotional and behavioral support, life skills training, educational supports, recreational opportunities, and community integration. We are dedicated to providing the support necessary to maintain the quality of life, achieve the highest possible level of independence and promote social opportunities, which benefit the individuals and the community.
As a Qualified Crisis Behavior Professional, you will develop, train, and maintain the Positive Behavior Support plan and functional behavior assessment as a part of the Individual Support Plan in a 24-hour children’s residential group home setting for children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. This includes collecting data on behavior supports in an evidenced based manner and using data to inform changes and revisions.
Working conditions
  • You must have a valid license to drive, and you must have and maintain an acceptable driving record to transport individuals by state van or car.
  • You will work in a residential group home environment, which is staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • You will be exposed to a variety of settings both within the residential group homes and the community including occasional exposure to inclement weather.
  • Expect work hours and shifts in this position to include any shift, including weekends, nights, and holidays depending on your assigned work schedule.
  • You must be able to work a flexible schedule with some nights and weekends monthly.
  • You will work with individuals who experience an intellectual and/or developmental disability (I/DD) and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • You will be exposed to individuals who are justice-involved or committed, and/or individuals who may often experience crisis that may be communicated in significant emotional or physical behaviors towards themselves or others.
  • There is frequent daily lifting up to 75 pounds involving transferring, positioning and moving individuals and/or moving program supplies. You will frequently squat, bend, and stoop.
  • You must be able to engage and maintain Oregon Invention System (OIS) approved restraints for one (1) hour or less.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification - Requiring you to complete compressions in a kneeling position.
  • Oregon Intervention System Certification (OIS) - Requiring you to physically hold an individual for safety while maintaining an approved restraint on clients which may involve quick movements, changes in physical positioning, and verbal communication with coworkers.
  • Medication Administration Certification - Requiring you to demonstrate competency in completing doctor's orders, appropriate passing of medications to clients, appropriate documentation, and appropriate procedures for emergencies.
