Job description

Description/Comment: "A QC Technician is an entry level position for individuals with minimal to no scientific background. This employee will have the opportunity to develop the skills to be able to perform basic and critical experimental work of day-to-day analysis, including generation and analysis of data. The work is "hands on" in an analytical lab and requires analytical testing, computer operating, record keeping, and report writing abilities. This position supports the quality testing needed for raw material, in-process, finished goods, stability, and cleaning validation analysis. This role also supports ensuring GMP guidelines are maintained for the overall cleanliness and organization of the lab space.
II. Specific Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Learn and develop basic laboratory skills (weighing, pipetting, preparation of solution, labeling of glassware, etc.), laboratory safety, sample preparation and testing methodologies.
Perform, remedial laboratory tasks (cleaning of instruments and glassware, preparation of solutions, assistance in sample preparation, assistance in analytical testing/calibration of instruments) as appropriate with developed skill set.
Utilize learned skills to perform efficient/reliable introductory level analytical testing in accordance with USP/NF/EP/JP/FCC/etc. or customer supplied guidelines. Typical testing may include Dissolution, Flame Atomic Absorption, Polarimetry, Loss on Drying, Viscosity, Residue on Ignition, Heavy Metal Content, FTIR, HPLC, GC, Raman Spectroscopy, and visual inspection of packaging components.
Develop the ability to maintain accurate written records of all work and analysis performed, as required by the current applicable industry standards.
With guidance, accurately interpret and effectively communicate analytical results and issues.
Schedule daily tasks in an organized and efficient manner.
Develop understanding of standard operating procedures and test methods.
Ability to work in a "flow to the work" team environment.
In combination with other lab personnel, be responsible for a clean and safe working environment.
Maintain electronic sample tracker for raw material testing
Proper disposal of chemical waste and broken glass drums.
Trash removal.
Daily sweeping and weekly mopping of lab floors
Hand washing and proper use of industrial dishwasher to maintain supply of clean lab glassware.
Dusting and clutter removal
Maintain lab in an organized manner
Other tasks as assigned
III. Essential Skills and Experience:
Education or Equivalent: (Minimum required to perform job)
High School Diploma
Work Experience - 0 to 2 Years in a Quality, Laboratory or Clinical role
Associates Degree or Equivalent Experience
Work Experience - 0 to 2 Years in a Quality, Laboratory or Clinical role
Knowledge/Skills Requirements:
Ability to multi-task with high energy and high efficiency.
Ability to work well under pressure and maintain efficiency.
Ability to communicate effectively.
General computer literacy including use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work with hands and stand for long periods of time.
Ability to follow direction in a safe and effective manner.
Prior experience in a laboratory setting (desired but not necessary).
Ability and willingness to learn and develop personal skills.
Strong attention to detail
Ability to solve problems related to analytical testing and procedures
IV. Dimensions of Position:
Scope of Responsibility
Work Schedule: Shifts of 8 or 12 hours in duration.
