Summary
Responsibilities/Key Processes
- Directed in organizing and prioritizing workload. Independently perform routine and non-routine tests, support the QC laboratory in testing all samples, if applicable. Ability to coordinate and perform multiple/concurrent tasks in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
- Coordinate and test raw materials and finished products daily based upon back logs, customer shipment schedules and/or as directed by management. Communicate the backlog of samples to be tested to co-workers and Manager. Communicate work schedule(s) to Manager including weekend work to ensure QC testing does not become excessively backlogged.
- Knowledge of test methods, processes, and laboratory equipment for raw material, liquid and finished products.
- Responsible for the inspection/preventative maintenance of all laboratory equipment. Need to have knowledge of all lab equipment (vicat apparatus, air jet sieve, screen sieves, scratch testing equipment, weigh scale, hardness tester, and if applicable colorimeter).
- Communicate nonconforming product via the "Questionable Material Form." Any product(s) that fall outside the product’s specification(s) must fill out the “QM” form, tag all pallets with a "Hold" sticker, and re-test batch(es) if applicable.
- Accurately record and report test data in laboratory database system (Infinity QS): record test data in a timely manner to enable ‘real time’ SPC charting and analysis. Review SPC data/charts identifying unusual trends. Must notify Management of unusual trend(s). Ensure open communication regarding SPC trend(s) with other QC laboratory personnel.
- Accurately record and report test data in laboratory records and filing of incoming raw material certificate of analysis/quality.
- Participate with lab coverage and internal/external audits.
- May provide training, support and ongoing guidance to QC personnel.
- Keep the lab clean and professional in appearance and functionality.
- Assist in collecting routine and non-routine product samples/data to be sent to UK, Witten, Germany, and/or any other requests from ANA R&D and/or ANA Technical Service.
- All other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
- May have to travel to support QC testing at other plants.
- Exhibit daily good laboratory housekeeping practices, i.e., clean Vicat rings, wiping counter tops, sweeping floor, and dusting.
- The workstations should be cleaned daily.
- Sweep and straighten up entire work area daily.
- Empty trash bin into the dumpster when necessary.

- Zero to two (0 – 2) years of Quality Control experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
- Takes the initiative and solves problems. Ability to recognize issues, recommends improvements, solve problems, and analyze data to provide a report.
- Make decisions independently and exercises judgment within the established guidelines. Demonstrated capability and proven track record of testing to specifications and taking the appropriate actions.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required. Self-starter, driven, self- motivated and the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
- Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control as applied to our quality control measures preferred.
- Professional with a good work ethic. Integrity, dependability, accountability, adaptability, detail-oriented, responsiveness, and good attendance are essential.
- Must be proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must be customer focused.

Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with Laboratory Experience.
- Associates Degree
Organizational Relationships
- Direct Report: ANA Quality Assurance Manager
- Indirect report/dotted line Report: Plant Manager
- Functional direction: Quality Technician II or II, or Quality Assurance Lead
- QC related quality defects in the field.
- Ability to coordinate and perform multiple/concurrent tasks in an accurate, efficient and timely manner.
- Quality department laboratory test methods, procedures and processes are followed to ensure product adheres to quality requirements.
- Accurate record keeping and data entry of laboratory results.
- Requires supervision to identify trends and shifts in a control chart and immediately notify Management of change.
- If applicable, grout color standards, grout color matching, and/or grout retarder adjustments.
- Requires supervision to recommend Product retarder adjustments.
- Communicating important information to Management in a timely manner.
- Attendance and time keeping.
- Performance review.
Shift: 7am or 8am to 3:30pm or 4pm, every other Saturday 2 hours OT
