QA TECH – 2nd shift

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

QA Technician will operate in a food production facility to observe, inspect, measure, and document findings during assigned, to demonstrate that the manufacturing environment, the raw materials and packaging materials, the production processes, and the resulting finished products meet the requirements and standards established by food agencies, Fair Oaks Farms, and customers for quality, safety, cost, and delivery of the finished products.

  • Inspect fresh meat to be used in the process to assure wholesomeness.
  • Monitor and record weights and temperatures of cooked meat products.
  • Monitor and assure the effective operation of production line metal detectors.
  • Verify and record case weights and case piece counts and temperatures of finished product.
  • Verify information printed or stamped on finished product cases, including proper code date, ‘Use Thru’ date, product code, etc.
  • Collect and document product samples for lab (micro) analysis, document proximate analysis, grilling and sensory testing of finished product sample to assure the customer is receiving a quality product.
  • Retain unacceptable or questionable product for further analysis.
  • Contribute to production operations by complying with policies and procedures for meat processing; Good Manufacturing Practices, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) regulations, etc.
  • Contribute to a safe and sanitary work environment by complying with establishment procedures and rules.
  • Monitor and assure that Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and establishment procedures are being followed, and that safe, quality meat products are being packaged for delivery to our customers.
  • Perform special assignments, as directed by Q. A. management.
  • Responsible for the quality of work performed and for identifying and documenting quality problems for corrective action and for preventing non-conforming product.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Required High School diploma, GED or equivalent, with basic math and computer skills to work with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Must be dependable to work hours and be willing to work weekends and overtime hours as company necessitates.
  • Be detail-oriented with abilities to follow directions, to record data neatly and accurately, to work under minimal supervision, to multi-task in fast paced environment safety, and to communicate effectively and clearly in a timely manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Desired experience with Food Manufacturing, Food Service, and Retail Operations
  • Desired degrees Bachelor or Post-secondary degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent degrees.

While performing the duties of this job's responsibilities, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and high, precarious places. The employee is frequently exposed to cold temperatures (30 degrees below) and warmer (90 degrees higher). The noise level in the work environment is usually high.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; clime or balance, stoop, kneel, couch, or crawl, talk or hear as defined below.

  • Standard of 8 hours shifts and longer as company requires
  • Standing and/or walking throughout the shift
  • Lifting /carrying a minimum of 30 lbs.
  • Use both hand necessary
  • Operation of powered industrial trucks (requires certification training).

SAFETY & SECURITY

Observes safety and security procedures such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Material Safety Data (MSD) sheets, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), LOTO as trained and certified, Emergency Evacuations, and Building Security; Reports potentially unsafe conditions and injuries: near miss/incidents/accidents timely; Uses and cares for company equipment and materials properly.

HOURLY RATE:

1st shift:QA TechLevel 1 $18/hour, Level 2 $19/hour, Level 3 $20/hour

2nd shift:QA TechLevel 1 $19/hour, Level 2 $20/hour, Level 3 $21/hour
