The QA Automation Intern has an integral role in helping ensure the best possible experiences for our customers. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic to learn and work alongside other passionate technologists. You take ownership of your own tasks and responsibilities but are not afraid to seek guidance or ask questions. You'll deliver real impact to our technology org in this role as our team helps you learn or grow your skills in:
- Agile software development life cycle
- High-level software testing techniques - manual vs automated testing, unit vs regression vs integration vs end-to-end testing - when to use each and how to make the test cases effective
- QA best practices to use in the real world, and bad practices to avoid
- How to collaborate in a fast-paced product organization
This role reports to our QA Engineering Lead and you will be introduced to QA practices across engineering teams. You will also collaborate with Tech leadership on defining your intern project milestones and deliverables.
Objectives - The Problems You'll Solve
- Week 1: Familiarize yourself with the current agile QA process, meet all key stakeholders, and identify first test cases for improvement (regression and integration).
- By Week 3: Log bugs in detail and perform basic triaging/investigation when the issues are found
- Develop and execute basic test scripts against production and development spaces.
- By Week 9: Create effective test cases based on a feature specification written by product partners.
- Perform business impact analysis to help us identify and prioritize potential bugs prior to the release of the above feature
- Perform all aspects of post-release software testing for the above feature, including manual and exploratory testing to alleviate broken flows due to edge cases
Requirements:
- Interest in QA Automation testing
- Strong attention to detail
- Deep curiosity and a passion to learn
- A positive attitude, especially when met with unexpected challenges
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Part-Time availability up to 20 hours per week (Tuesdays & Thursdays)
- Accepting applications from rising Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors in an undergraduate program
The primary location for this role is Summit, NJ. We believe our business and our culture are strongest when we work together in person. Interns are required to be in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will be paid an hourly wage as a part-time seasonal employee of $16.00 as part-time seasonal employees.
